Like the show.

It seems to be "shored up", to many of us.

Is the Green Bay Packers offensive line good enough for playoff games on the road, or will it be our undoing?

Our o-line, buy or sell?

I'm selling.

Yes, we are a "dangerous" team, and anything can happen, but I still believe we are a fundamentally flawed football team in the sense that I cannot trust that offensive line against a quality defensive front.

I fear that this will in fact be the off-season discussion. Some will blame Rodgers, some will blame Grant et.al

Odd thing is that the o-line can fail and will not even get blamed by many. Weird how that can happen...I see it happening during a game, much less an entire off-season.

The Steelers won 2 SBs with a bad OL.

More importantly - will our D hold? If so, then yes we can win the big one.

I cant tell - not sure if its the Oline, the Oline coach, this wierd-ass zone blocking thing that never seems to work, arod holding the ball too long, etc ...

or perhaps all of the above.

I do see how it is better now then the first 1/2 of the season. Oh boy was it bad ... I saw a really big lack of short passes and or screens thou; and I blame this on the coaching.

I assume the talk has to do with what do we draft next preseason ...

Well we did draft 2 decent picks at tackle spots ... one we still have which should be quite decent. But I can seeing us grabbing another this time perhaps higher up 2nd round?

+4 points to Zombie for pointing out that the Steelers won a Super Bowl without a quality offensive line. No points for not elaborating how, and possible deduction for addressing a different buy or sell question regarding the defense, although very understandable in it's content, not germane to the game excepting the concept that the o-line will not be our undoing, so no deduction.

Zombie plus 4

zero points to Dulak for not being able to tell. (1st statement)

+2 for blaming coaching in 2nd statement

-1 for assuming this is about who we draft

-1 again for again assuming we are talking about who we draft

Dulak at zero

[sigh]

Buy or sell?

Our o-line.

We get Spitz back next year. TJ Lang should be stronger etc. after a year in an NFL conditioning program. My number one belief when it comes to having a solid O-line is CONSISTENCY. These guys need to work together longer. That was the best thing about our O-line back in the early part of this decade. They knew each other.

I do think, however, that we should draft someone who we can at least HOPE to groom into a replacement for Clifton at LT. I don't think anyone we have is the answer. I'm still upset about how the whole Meredith thing played out, but I'm sure they had their reasons. I think Lang may be a good replacement for Tauscher when it's time.

So, buy. But add a LT prospect. Doesn't have to be first round (unless it's good value).

Sell.

In one of our games, they pulled out stats showing that we pretty much don't score in a drive where Rodgers is sacked. This O-line isn't going to stop the Eagles blitzes. This O-line isn't going to stop Ware, effectively. Allen, we might. I have confidence Clifton, it's just the creative blitzing I'm afraid off. We'll see if we can them up. I'm selling for now.

Minus 2 for Spitz back next year after I just deducted from Dulak for bringing up the draft. Minus 2 for TJ Lang after a year, also. Plus 2 for pointing out the requirement for consistency on an o line, no points for not elaborating. Plus 2 for being upset about the Meredith thing. Luckily, no more deductions for going off-track, as you have already been nailed for it.

+2 for "These guys need to work together longer."

+2 to Mass, only because this is very arbitrary, lol

Are we talking about this season, or going forward to next season?

Going into the playoffs, I'll buy.

Wells has been solid. Lost the starting position, but was still ready.

Cliffy and Taush are vets. They can flat out play. They've lost a step with age, but lets be honest: they are vets that just flat out know how to play. Their technique is good, they have the experience to adjust when beaten initially. In terms of cut blocking, they will be a problem, but our strength is passing. Those guys can pass protect.

At Guard, I love Sitton. Reading a lot of day after tape breakdowns from Pellisero and McGinn, its obvious that Sitton has been our best linemen. Strong. Mean. Big. He's done a good job of run blocking, and shown some savvy in knowing how far he can hold onto players' jerseys on the second level without getting flagged.

My only problem is Colledge. Too inconsistent. Doesn't get the push you'd like a G to consistently get. When he's on top of his game, he is only above-average at best; rarely (if ever) dominates. If he is having a bad day, we will be in trouble. But I think he will know what is on the line, and step up his game. If he can be just okay, our o-line will be solid.

But another important facet of our blocking will be Tight Ends (and RBs, too). But the tight ends outside of J-Mike will have to step up, because they've been average on their best days. Havner has been missing blocks, and Lee has been responsible for quite a few "bad" runs the past few weeks according to McGinn.

Both of them have to step up, and be consistent.
