Three weeks ago, I would have said "no way." Now I think he's a strong candidate. Rodgers is just as important to his team as anyone else.

A few weeks ago, I had Brees, Favre, Manning in that order. Now I got Manning, Rivers, Favre, Brees, Rodgers in that order but there's an outside shot that Rodgers wins it.

LeRoy Butler had the following to say:

Q: If you could pick one thing, and one thing only, what would make you think that the Packers have a chance to get to the Super Bowl?

A: Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers is why I wake up thinking the Packers have a chance. Hes done something no one else has done, 4,000 yards his first two years as a starter, and doesnt get the credit. Aaron Rodgers makes me feel like they have a chance. Aaron Rodgers makes me feel like he can lead this team when he gets into adversity. Aaron Rodgers makes me feel like if theyre behind he can bring them back. Aaron Rodgers makes me feel like if theyre ahead, they can stay ahead. I just have so much confidence in him, it makes me feel like we have a chance. If hes healthy, they have a chance. Thats what everybody does this time of year. They pin their hopes on their quarterback. New England, Tom Brady. San Diego, Philip Rivers. Donovan McNabb in Philadelphia. Tony Romo. These are big-time name guys. Aaron Rodgers is in there with all of them. Brett Favre in Minnesota. Aaron Rodgers has done something none of those guys has ever done. I think hes in the pack with those guys. I live and die with Aaron Rodgers.

If you look at his passing stats, they're identical to Brett Favre with 29 TDs and only 7 INTs. However, he's playing behind the worst OL in the NFL. Manning's playing behind the best. Yes, that will be taken into consideration.

The other thing is his rushing stats:
56	314	20.9	5.6	4

#1 in rushing yards. #1 in TDs.

Green and gold lenses aside, there's a strong case for him to win it.

Rodgers should be right in the mix of MVP talk with those others. But he won't be. Part of the problem is we are talking to much about the Packers defense. And that hurts Rodgers.

I agree with you, but I don't know if it will happen. It's sexier for Favre or Manning to win it - KWIM?

He has almost no chance of winning it, but I'm happy that he's crept into the discussion, at least.

The main thing that is keeping Rodgers just below the elite level in many peoples' eyes is that he doesn't yet have a lot of late-game heroics to his credit. Those will come in time. He's been fine in those situations this season, after looking a bit shaky at times last year. But at this point it's hard to point to even one example of a classic Aaron Rodgers game-winning drive.

Yup, well and that'd be reliant on if we would have stopped Pittsburgh. He had a chance Vs Minnesota in the 2nd game though and kind of blew it.

Oh and the first game vs the Bears was pretty heroic.

LOL!!

If Rodgers were to win, the Brett fans would implode..

I think that Bretts official web site and forum would literally blow up from the screaming and smoke filled heads of the posters there

The thing that hurts Rodgers is if you ask almost any fan that was at the game Sunday you know who is MVP of the Pack, Chucky is the Packers MVP and i can't see Rodgers winning MVP if he's not even the MVP of his own team.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Wouldn't it be nice if each team voted 1 player as a nomination for the award. I guarantee that QBs would not be the guy on the majority of the teams.

Ya that would be nice. The MVP is really just a Quarterback award.

Its cool that he is even talked about ...
Id like him to win ... had 20pounds on him since preseason (although I cant remember if it was for most passing yards or MVP 20-1 odds).
