The move would also make sense with an eye on the offseason.
Now is usually a time teams start collecting players for training camp.
If we're worried about anyone on our PS being poached it makes sense to stash them on the 53.
Thompson won't play again this year and we're deep at Lber anyway.

He was our #1 preseason at ROLB - I really wantd to see him this year; to see how he would do (IMO looks like a much better build then brad jones).
But they refuse to get the guy adequate healthcare (rant off).
Only thing I want for christmas (err the offseason) is someone that can return a kick. Sorry but nelson can maybe return a kick but punts? ... errr and no not our #1 player on D (#21) hes not going to be our return man.

Problem is, who are you going to sign for punt returns? I think that, if we had a good punt returner on our PS, we would've signed him some time ago.
And no, we don't need a kick returner. Jordy is doing a good job. This is something we should address in the draft. Maybe get a corner and KR/PR combo which gives us some special teams play and corner depth. Thinking Perry Cox here.
Anyway, the biggest problem I have is that these guys appear to be horribly raw. We could activate Toribio, but he's slated as a NT right now, in part due to not having the athleticism to play 3-4 DE (From what I've read). And that wouldn't be such a problem, but he's currently only 304 LBS, which would make him quite undersized.
And really, if he didn't get promoted these last 15 times that we had a spot coming up, how much of an impact could he instantly make? He's been a PS body for two years now and just can't get to the 53 man roster. If anything, he'd most likely be another inactive every week.
