Star of Clueless and Girl Interrupted, and the recognizable voice of Luanne in King of the Hill, Brittany Murphy died early this morning of cardiac arrest. TMZ is reporting that Murphy, 32 years old, was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after her mother found her unconscious in the shower.
Paramedics performed CPR after responding to a 911 call made on December 20, 2009, from a home belonging to Simon Monjack, her husband. She was pronounced dead at the hospital of cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office will be conducting an investigation.
Brittany Murphy was also well known for her voice role as Luanne Platter on the long running (226 episodes) animated film/sit-com, King of the Hill. Luanne is Peggy Hill's niece. Sensitive and a bit of an airhead, her conflicts most often stem from her inability to think for herself and her naivet, which allows others to take advantage of her. She follows a very implicit pattern in the men she dates, which are usually all the wrong kinds. She came to live with the Hills after her mother, Leanne, was sent to prison for stabbing Luanne's father (Peggy's brother) with a fork. Her full name is Luanne Leanne Platter, as heard on the episode "Edu-macating Lucky. 1997-2009. In late 2002, Murphy began dating Ashton Kutcher, her co-star in Just Married.
King of the Hill aired on Rhode Island's FOX tv.
