None of the above. Chris Johnson deserves it more. What he is doing is much more rare than the the QBs.

When he's the only weapon on his team, there's no doubt he's their most valuable player.. But also it leads many to believe that he wouldn't have the same performances because the ball would be spread out.

And that while QBs aren't dependant on their team, at all.

This double standard when it comes to fan voting is just ridiculous. The man is closing in on Eric Dickerson's rushing record AND Marshall Faulk's all purpose yardage record in the same season. He doesn't have the weapons around him that a Favre or a Brees has, yet, he's scolded because he has one of the best O-lines in the league and a QB who can run an option.

Fan voting is the nature of the beast.

He's a stud, I'm not arguing that.

What I'm saying is put him on Drew Brees' team, and he's not having the same numbers.

Case in-point: AP and Favre. Theoretically, AP should be having the year Chris Johnson is. But the dynamics of the game determine otherwise (ball being spread out more, different playcalling/plays all together, and dozens of other intangibles).

Chris Johnson is the MVP of the Titans. But that's about it. It's not the MVP of the Titans, it's the MVP of the League.

Formo hit the nail on the head there. He's MVP of the team. We're talking NFL MVP. As of 12/17/09, Brees walks away with it. 3 weeks left.

I would have to disagree just for the fact that the Titans started what 0-5 and made the switch to Young at qb and won something like 5 straight. So its hard to give Johnson the MVP when the team was losing with him doing stuff and now they start winning with the qb change.

"dhazer" wrote:

I don't care what the team is doing. At the pace he is on. He is going to be the highest combined Rushing/Passing yardage in history of the NFL. There will be only a few players even higher on all purpose yardage, and all of those are returners.

"PackFanWithTwins" wrote:

Problem with your thinking is that an MVP won't come from a losing team or non playoff team, so yes you should care what the team is doing when you consider an MVP.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be ๐Ÿ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Yes, in the 00s, every single MVP was on a Playoff team. I imagine the next 10 MVPs will be on Playoff teams as well. So much for Chris Johnson getting one.

Well, Peyton Manning just upped his stock. Brees will need another Brees day Sunday to stay ahead.

I'd say Brees.
That said, i BET it will end up going to BF. He's having a great year, and is "old". Thus, he will get it not just for his actions on the field, but circumstances.

I think Brees deserves it, but I almost hope Manning gets it, just so it will burn in Favre's craw that he, who once was the league's darling with an unprecedented three consecutive MVPs, will be playing second fiddle to a man with five MVPs.

I think Manning's great but I wonder why all his int's are no issue. If Favre threw all those picks everyone would be saying same old careless Brett

Right now I'd put them in the following order:

1. Brees
2. Favre
3. Woodson
4. Manning
5. Johnson

I know Woodson will never be anywhere near that in the actual voting thanks to a strong prejudice against defensive players but he deserves to be considered with the way he is playing. He is hands down my devensive MVP and the Packers defense would be no where near as good without him. Brees and Favre are having ridiculous years. Favre is playing some of the best football he's every played, which kills me to say... fucking Vikings, I hate when anything good goes their way. Manning is throwing too many interceptions (what the hell is up with that when Favre is the one protecting the ball and Manning is giving it up like mad) which brings him down a few notches. Chris Johnson would be the MVP if his team were doing better. Formo and Dhazer nailed it on the head with him in regards to their team and the fact that they weren't winning with a long time with him in and that changed when Young started playing.

One name sneaking up is Pillip Rivers. He's been getting better every week. I think the Chargers are a team the Colts would like taken out as soon as possible
