Absolutely true.........only 1 hour old story.

I had to run into Missoula, about 9 miles from our home, to visit my fav-o-rite store........WallyMart to pick up a prescription. It has been snowing off and on (more on than off) since the blizzard of Saturday that did Appalachian State in. The roads are in pretty good shape, which is to say they could hold every sport in the winter Olympics on US 93 between Lolo and Missoula. I raced my 4x4 down our hill at about 2mph which was about 1 1/2 mph to fast and skidded to a stop at the stop light at highway 93. Antilock brakes and skid control on my Ranger work well.

As I'm waiting for the stoplight to turn green, a county sanding/de-iceing truck goes by headed toward Missoula. "Great", I thought. "I can follow this guy into town and stay on the gravel and de-icer he's laying down. Piece of cake."

I get behind him and stayed back a safe distance......I just replaced the windshield on my truck in October...and we're cruising along about 25 mph. I'm back far enough that through the blowing snow I can still make out his flashing lights on the rear of the truck. That's at least 20 feet.

I glance in my rear view mirror and make out the flashing lights of another county truck coming up behind us. "Wow," I thought. "They are really hitting this road hard today." Then, I do a double take in the rear view mirror, and yup, you got it. The second truck has his plow blade down and is plowing the highway.

I stay behind the first truck and we come to a stop light in Missoula. I'm on the inside lane and a car pulls up beside me and the driver gestures for me to turn my window down. He yells over to me...."Do you believe those two idiots in the plows? I can't believe I saw what I did. The first guy puts the sand and de-icer down and the second dummy plows it up."

Only in Missoula County....which is why the biggest selling bumper sticker here reads........."KEEP MISSOULA WEIRD!"

Haven't you guys heard?

They were "green" de-icing.

They are now required by Federal law to plow it away immediately, otherwise the county has to pay a carbon tax in the event of roadway warming and subsequent inadvertent and catastrophic county melting.

I'm sure the EPA will be out with their hazmat teams to sequester the damage to the snowbanks prior to the spring thaw. I heard they plan to store the contaminated snow in California, because Nancy Pelosi's district needs the jobs.

The 10 gazillion dollar 10 billion btu solar/wind/cannabis/undocumented worker-powered refrigeration unit is scheduled for completion in 2050, in the meantime, they'll probably just throw some dry ice around the piles (dry ice-aka co2, lol) little global warmin' humor.

There is a way of thinking here in Wisconsin that makes this absolutely no shock... never ever underestimate the laziness or silliness of a county worker.. do as little as possible while taking as much time as one possibly could imagine.

State Workers

A fellow stopped at a rural gas station and, after filling his tank, he paid the bill and bought a soft drink. He stood by his car to drink his cola, and he watched a couple of men working along the roadside.

One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other man came along behind and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new hole, the other was 25 feet behind filling in the old.

The men worked right past the fellow with the soft drink and went on
down the road.

I cant stand this, said the man, tossing the can into a trash container and headed down the road toward the men.

Hold it, hold it, he said to the men. Can you tell me whats going on here with this digging?

Well, we work for the government, one of the men said.

But one of you is digging a hole and the other fills it up. Youre not accomplishing anything. Arent you wasting the taxpayers money?

You dont understand, mister, one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. Normally theres three of us: me, Rodney, and Mike. I dig the hole, Rodney sticks in the tree, and Mike here puts the dirt back.

Now just because Rodneys sick, that dont mean that Mike and me cant work.

Good one Vikesrule. +1

We got freezing rain now and I have to go substitute at noon today. Wonder which way my truck will slide down the hill today. With any luck that guy in the sanding truck from yesterday will get a bright idea and get our hill.

Naw!!!! The other idiot will be right behind him plowing it off.

Your states use de-icer. We just wait until spring. No wonder your states are all broke.

Zero2Cool (48m) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (14h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (14h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
