McCarthy said "I'm not worried. I have confidence in Mason. I believe in Mason," . this is accordng to rotoworld. so no we will not be trying out any kickers.

Can't push the panic button. There is no one available out there who is better than him.

Some of the problems are the holder and not Crosby.

Lots of good posts in this thread. I heard Folk is on the chopping block also. I could be wrong, but I think I read that.

I still feel good about him, for some (very?!) strange reason.

I have NOTHING to base that on, except a (lousy?) sixth sense, coupled with a realization that we could very easily make things worse by attempting a switch this late in the game.

I think I know why I still want him.

He seems like a non-flake. I value that in my kicker. It is rare.

Let him play out the string. I also agree that the coaches should let him do his thing any way he feels is best...I didn't say he was a complete non-flake, and if he had some idiosyncrasies that worked for him, leave him the f#ck alone and let him do his whack-kicker shit in order to get it through the uprights...hell, coaching him ain't working...

It by no means we won't try out any kickers. It means he feels Crosby will turns things around. Kickers and Punters are superstitious to a fault and have fragile ego's more so than the common player. If coach publicly blasts him, don't for a second thing that won't be through his mind when he's lining up to kick the game winning kick.

McCarthy can't really say much else.

Even with that said, I feel we need to bring in a few kickers, just to light a competitive fire under Mason's ass.

It is frustrating that he misses from 30 years and 40 yards. I mean come on this guy was kicking so good last year and this year he just disappeared. I agree with the rest we can't panic yet, but he better get his act together before playoffs.

I kid around alot about our coach and his public speaking, etc---

I really do like him, and I really do respect his football acumen. I think he is an excellent coach.

This "situation" is one where his "world renowned" (editorial, lol) even-keeledness could pay major dividends.

MM is a "non-panicker". Drives (me) us nuts at times. When it comes to a kicker, though, it's probably good to have a coach that rolls like Mike.

If he decides to bring in kickers, I think we'd all be good with that decision. If he decides not to, I think I'm going to have to be good with that decision also, because I have to believe that Mike knows better than I what impact that might have on Mason. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am going to have to (can't believe I'm typing this) trust him.

Does anyone expect MM to say "Crosby sucks! He can't make a damn fieldgoal!"
Of COURSE he's not gonna say that. You can BET behind closed doors "Bing" is getting an earful.

Crosby has been <80% FG kicker even year 1.

He has been perfect<30 for his career 29of29

30-39 yards 07' 10 of 11, 08' 10 of 13, 09' 6 of 7
40-49 yards 07' 9 of 14, 08' 5 of 6, 09' 4 of 6
50 & > 07' 3 of 5, 08' 3 of 6, 09' 1 of 5

If Mason was kicking the ball through the uprights on kickoffs, then maybe this would be OK. Since he isn't this is far from alright. Kicker needs to be >80% FG percentage in my book.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
