why is it that every time McCarthy says "it's something we need to look at" the situation gets fucking worse? could our special teams get any fucking worse and could we possible get any more goddamn flags this year? if flags grew on trees the world would be treeless thanks to us.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

For one thing it would help greatly if Crosby was told to NEVER kick the ball down the MIDDLE again. Every time the opposing team gets a big return it's right down the middle of the field.

From what I have seen I would kick it to the opposing teams right side every time. That's where we seem to get the best coverage but those guys in the middle have a real problem getting off their blocks.

It's not a big thing but I think it would help prevent these straight forward sprints. One thing I did see was Tramon is pretty darn fast. That guy was gone and he caught him.

Why doesn't Crosby use that mule leg and kick the ball out of the endzone???

Either we need the Coaches to quit telling him to float it, or we need to find another kicker who can kick it deep and have above a 75% success rate.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Click HERE  to read how Crosby doesn't think it's fair for people to say he's not doing good. Awww, CUT HIS ASS!

When he was 13 of 14 with 49 or less, I had his back. Albeit 1 of 5 50+. Comparing that to others, it wasn't that far off.

Now he has a over all 76% rate and the special team coach and the kicker don't think there's a problem? The dude missed a 38 yarder!

If he misses another one under 40, I'm 100% finished with him. He has a monster leg, I think the holder sucks, and I don't like the special teams coach much. So, I'm 'sort' of on the fence with him, but leaning off to the 'cut his ass' side.

If we cut him you know he'll go to some team and become one of the top 3 kickers in the league almost immediately.

So we should keep the guy because he has potential? No, not at all.

Make him think he's going to be cut. Stop making excuses for him, (coaching staff that is) and bring in some competition. Make him sweat, make him understand he is NOT doing well. This cavalier attitude toward makeable kicks that are misses, bugs the shit out of me.

Take Aaron Rodgers, he throws three TD's and one INT, he talks about how he needs to do better and not make that INT. Greg Jennings and Mason Crosby and someone else, I forget who, they each blow there mistakes off and imply they do more good than bad so its okay. When you think like that, I think you've lost a step mentality and have given up on progressing.

You're a professional, you are expected to do great things and your accountable for focusing on your mistakes and correcting them. I'm fine with a mistake, I have no problem with mistakes. i have a problem when a mistake is viewed as minor cuz of the good one does. Wrong, you need to learn from that mistake, correct it, and it needs to occur less frequently, not more frequently.

He's a kicker. He's supposed to be a flake.

Remember Ryan "there was a piece of grass on one side of the ball which changed the trajectory" Longwell?

I don't understand it.....whats so hard about coaching ST's???
I mean, you have your guy kick the ball, the others run down and tackle.

Whats so hard about that?
Maybe they do good in practice because they are practicing against our own lame return team.
Bring in the local GB high school team and make them kick to them. Maybe they would learn something.

Maybe that's a little over the top, but a lot goes into kicking a ball right.

That was my European side speaking.

You'd nearly think that our coaching staff thinks this way.

With all the poor angles we're taking, it's a miracle that we're not giving up more big plays. Especially against the Browns.

But a part of this might lay within the kicker and punter, as well. I think that everyone's noticed that Crosby is kicking some floaters out there. He used to kick them in a little low. Line drives pretty much. Kapinos either outkicks his coverage or shanks it.

It's just a combination of the 3 that's screwing us over.

I'm still going for a punter in the 5th round or something. Maybe one who can kick-off, as well, if need be.

Can't remember where I read it, but someone made an interesting argument: perhaps the simplistic schemes on STs are coming back to hurt us now.

When the person analyzed the long return, he/she said there was simply terrible coverage up the middle, almost like the Ravens knew what lanes the ST players were going to run into, and the Ravens simply blocked the guys from getting in those lanes.

He also noted that ST coach Slocum has had to simply the schemes as a result of the failures early on, and now our problem is more the fact that there simply isn't enough schematic creativity to confuse other teams and free up our tacklers consistently. When other teams are seeing the same simple stuff 3-4 times before, by the fifth - sixth time our scheme is so simple that setting up blocks isn't an issue for opposing teams.

I'm Kapinos' biggest critic, but to be fair he's done a darn good job lately. Especially against the Ravens, he was very good. His net yards could stand to improve, but his kicking was outstanding. He had 4.45 seconds of hang time and 43 gross... really good production considering the weather.

Right now, I'd much rather spend a 5th on a kicker, if we draft a specialist.
