Brees, Manning and Favre all have a huge advantage over QB's with no dome to play in. If you under estimate that as a QB, you've probably never thrown a football, lol.

Zero - Yes, I know the dome thing but I doubt the folks doing the voting will even put that into consideration.

Porky - Had we won those 2 games, we'd be 10-2 and they'd be 8-4. That is HUGE when it comes to MVP balloting. Thus is why I put Brees #1 and Manning #2 even though statistically Favre is better than Manning right now, and so is Rodgers but he's leading a team that "only" has a 8-4 record.

Urgh. Did the article really have to go on and on about Favre? I'm really getting tired of the comparisons and stopped reading after about the 3rd time they mentioned his name.

Aaron isn't 3rd. He's about 4th right now behind Brees, Manning, and Favre. Like it or not, Favre is 2nd in the NFL in passer rating and is #1 in TD vs INTs. Brees is #1 in rating and #1 in TDs thrown. Brees and Manning are leading undefeated teams.

The bummer about Aaron has NOTHING to do with Favre and everything to do with our team "only" being 8-4 while there are still 2 teams that haven't lost yet.

That's awesome. In your post about not reading after the third time he mentioned Favre, you mention Favre three times. I feel like I should follow suit.

As zombie said, nobody factors that in. Whether or not they should is irrelevant. They won't.

The Monday night game where Minnesota travels to Chicago is going to be interesting. I think everyone is curious to see how Favre deals with the harsh environment. He has loss a step in cold weather games. There is no denying it. I thought Rodgers handled the conditions well last Monday.

I think it's Brees' to lose and then Manning's. If they slip up and 9-7 gets Tennesee in the playoffs with Chris Johnson rushing for 2,000 yards, he'll also be tough to beat.

That's right, and as long as Manning and Brees keep winning this is a two man race. It's hard to judge how the vote might go between the two, but I would not be shocked to see a tie.

Since when did playing in a dome become a "huge" advantage for a QB? Oh, I know: Since this year, when the top three QB's all happen to play in domes. If that's ever happened before, I don't remember it. I'd say that a dome gives a slight advantage to a QB, stat-wise, but it's a minor factor.

How many of the great QB's in recent years have played in domes? Manning is the only one I can think of. Once you get past him, you've got Brady, Favre, Elway, Steve Young, Aikman, Marino, Montana...all outdoor guys, and a few of them played in cold weather cities.

Playing with no wind, the same 70 temperature is not an advantage to rain, snow, wind, differing temperatures?

Aaron Rodgers said a week ago that he'd "rather 75 every game, as a Quarterback you like the consistency."

To answer your question of 'Since when did playing in a dome become a "huge" advantage for a QB?' and then you said, oh this year. That's wrong. Very wrong. I've said this about football for years. I think the first time I started griping about the advantages of dome play came when I was 12 and played a game of street ball in rainy muddy grass field across the street from Lutheran Church on St Agnes Drive. After playing in that for a few hours, I was sold, to me, that was football, that's how it should be played. Playing the game on carpet, or a controlled climate, to me, gives the teams an advantage.

Would Brees, Peyton or any other dome playing QB have worse stats if they did not play in a dome? At this point and time, I'd say unlikely. The only difference in their stats would be felt in the final quarter of the season.

But no one should be implying that NOT having to play with wind, rain, sleet, snow, etc is NOT an advantage over having to. Especially for a Quarterback and you could throw in Punters and Kickers too.

You could look at playing in a dome as a disadvantage also, they get used to playing indoors then have to go outside. I remember favre struggled big time in domes except for a few games. If you use domes as an excuse then you have to use where you play your home games than also, Rivers shuld have a huge advantage over the likes of Rodgers and Cutler. It can go on and on like Cutler should get some excuses then for playing in the cold and wind over say Cassel playing in just the cold.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Anyone playing home games in a dome or warm climate like Arizona or San Diego is going to have 8 games in near ideal conditions by default. So unless GB starts playing every road game in a dome, Rodgers will never have as many games in conditions where weather is not a factor as Peyton Manning or Drew Brees. That's the built-in advantage to playing in a dome: you may suffer more the last two months playing in games where weather is a factor, but you won't be playing as many games where weather is a factor in the first place.
