The only record that Brett himself truly cares about is being the winningest QB to play the game. I believe at this time in his career, all he wants is to get to the superbowl and win it, not breaking records or playing for money. I also don't think he cares if Manning does end up breaking his records, Favre is all about winning and getting to the superbowl, not stats.

This does not mean I'm right on this, but I've read many Barry Sanders books, articles, interviews and never has anything like that been remotely implied. He's too humble of a guy to say 'no' to a team. He was overjoyed that the was even selected at all.
