Please stop making excuses for Ryan Grant, he just is not what we had hoped he would turn out to be and hasn't played well at all under an Aaron run offense.

So now its Aaron's fault that Ryan Grant isn't making his cutbacks? It's Aaron's fault that the OL isn't consistently opening up holes for him?

I suppose I can buy into that. Do you have three tens for a twenty by chance? I mean, I assume by your logic that would be okay. ;)

I am not saying it's Aaron's fault, just pointing out the obvious that Ryan has just not performed under a Roger's run offense and may never. IMHO I think a change of pace with a new starter at RB shoud be made.

Ryan Grant's contract is big only because it is loaded with incentives, based on yards, number of carries, and stuff like that. For him to give less than a full effort would not be in his best interest at all. Most of the problem is that the offensive line is playing like garbage right now.

Grant got his money. Thats all he wanted.

Barnett actually played pretty well.

He did get burnt by Dunn on a pass on the left side that could have been a short gainer and turned into big yards.

But 1 bad play can happen to anyone. Except Gregorious of course.

Here's the thing with Grant. Everyone was so enamored with his "big" 2nd half last year. By the time he came in and started for us, we were throwing like 75% of the time. 8 games into the season we had a good record and every Tom, Dick, and Harry with a pen was questioning how far we'd go based on our absolutely anemic run game. Enter Grant (who was option #4 at the time...more of a "well, let's give him a shot"). By then everyone was doing the opposite of stacking 8 in the box - they were solely playing the pass. Grant and the o-line built up some momentum and had some success....until it mattered (the NFCC). Grant was in the right place at the right time and scored big time with his contract. It sucks for us fans to realize now that he is (queue Denny Green) WHAT WE THOUGHT HE WAS...a castoff from the Giants. I mean, really, it wasn't suspicious that a team like the Giants with such World Beaters as Brandon Jacobs and Co. (/sarcasm) let Grant go for pocket change? Like they had no idea what they really had and we were some geniuses for knowing what Grant was capable of...even though we didn't even really play him for half the year? I know hindsight is 20/20, but this one isn't really that hard to figure out.

Against the Cowboys last year, under a "Rodgers run Offense" Grant had 15 touches for 98 yards and 2 TDs.

I'd call that a good performance.

A castoff doesn't get you 200 + rushing yards and 3 TDs in a playoff game in December at Lambeau.

Grant has talent. He's having trouble with his vision at the moment. I think Grant's just pressing now, he isn't doing things naturally but trying too hard to make something happen when nothing is open. A little more patience, he just needs to get back into the thick of things.

Grant may be struggling. but you can't put the blame on him, or the O-line.

How about a game plan that isn't so vanilla, that even the most uninterested fan in the stands knows what is coming.

MM needs to get his coaches together and either make some changes to the gameplan or make some changes on the coaching staff.

When everyone in the stadilum knows you are going to go into your "protective shell"and run on 1st down all you need to do is load up, which is exactley what happened when Grant fumbled. No excuse for the fumble, but let's mix it up a little and try to confuse the D a little.

Again those of you who are dumping on the defense, they don't deserve it.
The D may have given up some big yardage plays, but when it came down to crunch time, they made THE BIG PLAYS TO KEEP THE PACKERS IN THE GAME.

The problem being, a defense can only be on the field for only so much, before they need to get a break. The offense cannot sustain a drive, when it comes to "CRUNCH TIME", this has happened 4 weeks in a row, it is getting old real fast.

Hey MM, don't be afraid to mix it up a little and actually let your offense make a few plays through the air, even if it doesn't work, it's something different, what YOU ARE DOING NOW ISN'T WORKING!!!!!!

One last note...TT, nice decision cutting Jon Ryan, he might have taken 3 steps to punt the ball, but at least he could get it down the field!!!!
Ted Thompson = DUMBASS on that one.

Good points Buckeye.
The play calling SUCKED.
Like i said in a different thread, i kept yelling at the TV....."1st down.......i wonder what RUN MM will call this time?"
Heck......I could have run the Tampa D yesterday and won. I knew what MM was going to call. It was more like a preseason game, like they didn't prepare at all.

I strongly disagree with the criticism McCarthy is generating here.

Last year, when the players executed he was a genius. This year, when our execution and fundamentals have been piss poor, he's being unfairly criticized.

The coach's play calling isn't going to go from good to terrible in the course of one off-season. It's just that the execution is so bad that any play he calls results in a loss/minimal gain most of the time.

McCarthy has to get us to execute better on Offense, meaning block better, better route running, better catching.

Like McCarthy said, he can only put his players in a position to make plays, the players have to actually make the plays. The players aren't doing so, and McCarthy should be blamed for that.

But not for bad play calls.
