In North Carolina, anything over 80 is automatic revocation.

Which is absolutely stupid when the speed limit is 70 on freeways throughout the state. The whole state is a glorified speed trap.

(10) a violation of an applicable speed limit by a person driving in excess of 100 miles per hour. The person's license must be revoked for six months for a violation of this clause, or for a longer minimum period of time applicable under section 169A.53, 169A.54, or 171.174.

That's it? PSHHHHH.

He'll bite the bullet for 6 months. I'm sure Sidney Rice will give him rides, seeing as they are buddies and all.

[strike]Vikings[/strike]Professional athletes sure do get away with a lot, must be nice to disreguard the law in Minnesota and know you will still be able to play [strike]on Sundays[/strike], with a little help from their Viking-friendly judges.

I can't say I know about this, as I've only had a small speeding ticket. However, I DO know that almost any speeding ticket you get here in NC, especially if you haven't had an excessive amount, almost instantly gets bumped down a few levels, if not dismissed by the DA while standing in line at the courthouse. DA will just walk down the line and sign off on them if they are too busy.

So, to say that anything over 80 is automatic revocation isn't entirely correct, based on my experience. That's just probably something similar to the "maximum sentence" thing that never usually happens with a lot of crimes.

Of course tickets can be plead down. I should know -- I had a ticket for 83 in a 55 (sports car with a known defective accelerator pedal) plead down to a non-moving violation, since it was my first offense. But had it not been plead down, I would have lost my license, as the State Trooper was at great pains to explain to me.

I found out that if you don't speed, you won't get pulled over, or get a ticket.

When I told the trooper I hadn't realized I was speeding, I was actually being honest, but he wasn't impressed. A friend of my wife's had lent us his Mitsubishi GT3000 (a hot sports car) to go pick up our car, which was in the shop. He had warned us that the accelerator pedal was sticky and that he was going to get it repaired in a couple of days. It was true, too. In order to get past 35 mph, you had to literally floor the pedal. Also, if you've ever driven a GT3000, you'll know that the engine is whisper quiet, and I was used to driving a Honda Accord that the previous owner had souped up with an exhaust head to make it extra noisy. I was used to hearing my engine roar if I was going over 70. So it truly didn't occur to me until I saw the lights in my rearview mirror that I was driving excessively fast.

Yeah.. It's true. Especially in new sports cars now days.

I have a friend who's got a BMW (not sure which one right now), and he's told me that it's so fast, he doesn't even realize how fast he's going, regardless the street.

Not to take any of the blame from AP, but, hey.. It happens to the best of us.

C'mon Formo, Peterson got caught doing 109mph in a 55mph zone.
That "I didn't realize I was going that fast" excuse is about as lame as it gets. He "screwed the pooch"...plain and simple.

Peterson told The Associated Press on Thursday that he got a little speeding ticket. I need to be more aware of the speed I was going and not let it happen again.

Bullshit........Personal accountability!

That is reckless to the extreme. I don't give a rat's ass if he endangered himself.
He endangered the lives of many innocent people around him.

If indeed Minnesota law says that he should lose his license for 6 months....damn straight...take it away.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
