As the Vikings hit their stride with five regular-season games to go, it's important for them to keep the pedal to the metal.
Running back Adrian Peterson is taking that admonition a bit too seriously.
Per the Associated Press, Peterson received a speeding ticket after being clocked at 109 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone.
He said he didn't realize he was going that fast.
Look, we realize that the guy has been deified in Minnesota and elsewhere, but driving recklessly fast and then acting like he didn't realize he had nearly doubled the posted limit is the kind of thing Albert Haynesworth would do.
Our advice to the Vikings? Find a way quickly to get Peterson to realize that he isn't above the rest of the team, either when it comes to putting his foot on the gas or taking his hands off the football.
