As the Vikings hit their stride with five regular-season games to go, it's important for them to keep the pedal to the metal.

Running back Adrian Peterson is taking that admonition a bit too seriously.

Per the Associated Press, Peterson received a speeding ticket after being clocked at 109 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone.

He said he didn't realize he was going that fast.

Look, we realize that the guy has been deified in Minnesota and elsewhere, but driving recklessly fast and then acting like he didn't realize he had nearly doubled the posted limit is the kind of thing Albert Haynesworth would do.

Our advice to the Vikings? Find a way quickly to get Peterson to realize that he isn't above the rest of the team, either when it comes to putting his foot on the gas or taking his hands off the football.

Whom at the beginning of the season would have believed that AP would be more of a hindrance and distraction to the Vikings than #4?

Now before we get all wound up.. I know AP does more good for the Vikes than bad, and a 100 plus speeding ticket isn't a horrible act.. but in comparison to the QB.. he has put the Viking in the hole more often and has had more negative talk surrounding him than a former hated rival QB on the team.

Vikings sure do get away with a lot, must be nice to disreguard the law and know you will still be able to play on Sundays.

I can't blame him. Breaking the law in a stupid manner comes with donning the purple jersey.

Yeah, he probably heard something about a love boat soon departing and didn't want to miss it.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
