Woody is:

No. 2 in the league in INTs.
No. 2 in the league in forced fumbles.
No. 1 in the league among CBs in tackles.
No. 1 in the league among CBs in sacks.

A terrific leader who steps up and makes plays in crunch time.

If he keeps it up he will be the DPOY.

I expect Charles Woodson to solve the healthcare crisis in America; honestly the dude is doing just about everything else.

What a phenomenal player. Unbelievable.

SO I think DROY is currently
1) Cushing
2) Byrd
3) Orakpo/Matthews tie

For the DMVP I think it's clearly (IMO) between

James Harrison, Patrick Willis and Charles Woodson

Harrison (55 tackles, 10 sacks, 4 FF, 2 recovered)
Willis (96 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 8 pass defend, 2 INT, 1 TD, 2 FF)
Woodson (54 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 18 pass defend, 7 INT, 2 TD, 4 FF 1 recovered)

and honestly I'm having a hard time comparing Willis to the others the big question is how much value on Harrison's sacks, Willis' tackles and Woodson's INTs...

I think it's pretty clear Woodson numbers over Harrison IMO...

I think Woodson is first but i'm still having a hard time comparing who's second....

1) Woodson
2) ?????

You all forgot to mention former Packer Darren Sharper. 7 INTs, 3 TDs including a 99 yard one.

Of course I'd much rather prefer Woody get it as I want him going in the Hall and a Defensive MVP + a SB Ring would pretty much seal the deal, but it's going to be a fight to the end vs Sharper and Jared Allen.

Sharper was a leading candidate until his injury. I think Woodson deserves it. Not many cornerbacks can cover the whole stat line like he does: sacks, interceptions, fumbles forced and recovered, and touchdowns. Not to mention he gets a lot of tackles for a corner. The guy can do it all like a David Wright in baseball, it's simply amazing to watch.

However, in talks about MVP the one point that seems to get overshadowed is actually in the name of the award--Most Valuable Player. My interpretation is that, if said player were to go down with an injury how much would his team decline in his absence? That's why I'd take Manning over Favre and Brady in the quarterback race. That's also why I'd take Woodson over Harrison, Willis and Sharper. People are just too overwhelmed by the statistic frenzy that they can't actually focus on who is the Most Valuable Player. In some instances I could even see an offensive lineman earning the honor.

Woodson proves again and again why he is my favorite player on the team. some major recognition, league-wide is definitely due.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

True dat. That's how I really should have been thinking about it.

Without Woody, we'd be screwed on D. He's not only a ball hawk and a superb tackler, he's a HUGE morale boost and inspiration. He pumps up our D.

Geez, I'd love to see Woody get it. I really want to see this guy get into the Hall of Fame.

He was NFC Defensive Player of the Month in September and I suspect he should win it for November. If he finishes strong, he has a chance. It's a tough call, but he's as good as a defensive player as there is going.

Defensive MVP IMO:

1. Charles Woodson
2. Elvis Dumervil
3. Dwight Freeney
4. Jared Allen
5. Patrick Willis

DROTY

1. Jarius Byrd
2. Brian Cushing
3. Brian Orakpo
4. Clay Matthews
5. James Laurinaitis

To believe Matthews would have any chance over Byrd or Cushing is just silly.

Thats what he needs. One DPOY, a superbowl ring and a few more good seasons and I think he gets in.
