I think you are missing the point... I don't consider Smith and Jones on the same level.. not even close.. hence the point where Jones wouldn't be considered to be part of the Packers team.

Smtih attitude report.. here.

There's a difference (as you know) between a report and internet rumor, said source is the latter. Now, I'm only gullible enough to fall for the internet rumors about Barry Sanders being the black Superman!! Google it!!

I get your point, you're saying, Smith was a problem, was cut, Jones is worse, no way he makes the team. Yet, you're basing that on a freaking rumor! Where else has that been said? What supports it? Where? I looked when that was posted, found nothing to support it, unfortunately.

Now let's clear up my point here. We'll even go with that rumor being true. Why did the Packers put a claim in on Smith? Mike disliked his attitude or him so much he had him cut, yet we put a claim in on him during the season? I could see a coach doing that easily, however, our coach is stubborn as a mother trucker.

I could go on and on about this, but what's the point? Some will believe whatever they read. I refuse to do that. Call it another character flaw. I just prefer to go off things that make sense and have supporting evidence to them.

I still say, Jones on punt returns is better than putting Tramon or Jordy out there. Will it happen? I doubt it. Like I believe IronMan said, Jones has proved he doesn't want to play in the NFL.

I knew this was coming, so be it. IMO, well in advance of the move being made, the "rumor" has at least a passing credibility.

You made your position quite clear in that thread.. no sense in rehashing it. It will just reopen the Smith debate.. but I will add this, what didn't make sense at that time was the fact the Smith outplayed Rouse and Bush at Safety.. yet the Packers choose to go out an obtain two new players instead of sticking with a guy that went through camp with the Packers, yet hold onto the two that were outperformed. That makes sense? And their contributions to the team to date make it relatively clear why the Packers made an attempt at Smith a second time.. Martin has added little to nothing.. and the other kid.. notta.

This I am certain of.. the Packers do not release all the reasons for personnel moves in the media.. it wouldn't play well in player relations in the future.

Anyway.. no sense in debating this.. Smith is history and Jones will never have a history here.. lol.

Your time table is way off. Nice attempt though. 🙂

I've said countless times that I'd rather have kept Smith instead of Bush, regardless of the special teams play. I did like Rouse, but he seemed to be injured a lot.

So because the Packers don't release all information based upon releasing a player we should just believe internet rumors???? Yeah, that's slick.

I'm hoping Smith isn't history. I'm still hoping the Jaguars cut him and we pick him up!

More on the actual topic though, you all know who, Adam Jones.

Considering the CFL didn't even want him ... maybe he's not even worth a shot as a punt returner, lol. I forgot about that.

In Adam Jones' defense, the CFL did want him until he made that stupid vid stream on ustream where he couldn't even figure out what team/town/league he was looking to sign at, then his agent quickly called him on the phone to correct him, lol. That was a viral classic of how not to jumpstart your career.

LOL.. my time table isn't off..

55 released a report prior to cut downs.. fact.(Aug 31st)

At cut downs, we traded Moll for Martin. Fact. Sept 5th

Smith is released at cut downs, an Injured Rouse, Bush and Martin are kept. Sept 5th.

Sept 23rd we cut Rouse and pick up Matt Giordano

So it 2 games to make a decision that Rouse was a mistake and they were left scrambling for a replacement all the while Bigby was nicked up. We conviently forget Bigby wasn't ready and Rouse was nicked up as well.. yet kept over a guy that outplayed him in preseason. Bush was outplayed by Smith and Rouse.

So what doesn't make sense and you conviently ommit is that there had to be a reason that Smith was cut over Rouse, Bush and a guy that they hadn't even worked out yet in Martin yet need to have protection for a starter that wasn't fully healthy.

It doesn't add up.

So couple that with a before the fact report and the piece make sense.. but since our wonderful beat reporters didn't cover it.. it never happened eh? We all know how well our beat reporters actually cover this team flawlessly right?

If Mike McCarthy and/or Capers felt they couldn't win with Smith it makes little sense that they kept guys on the squad that he outperformed does it? Hence why I buy some credibility into a report released prior to the action.

It isn't like Smith didn't have a history of rubbing people the wrong way.

You said the Packers chose to obtain two other players instead of retaining Smith, as if they had it planned all along. I would suppose they thought they could test drive Derick Martin, cut Smith, if Martin blew, pick Smith back up too right?

I'm not saying 55sandman was wrong, just saying it's foolish (in my opinion) to put SOOOOO much stock into it. I believe some of it was accurate. Then I start thinking ... Packers put a claim in on him, Woodson spoke out in favor of him ... just how bad can the guys attitude be considering those two things there? Granted, I'm bias with Woodson, let's not try to hide that.

More so to Adam Jones (ya know, the topic of this lame thread that I mistakenly created) ... I bet he could still run back punt returns and if he can't, well hey no harm done, cut his ass.

Not a good corner at all, really. Better than Bush, almost certainly, but that's exactly the kind of player the current regime doesn't want.

He's not "Packer People".

wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
