Meet Nyrel Sevilla, Age 6

From WL favorite reader Upstate Underdog, its a six-year-old that tackles like one of the big kids. And both of us agree that we think this is a bit early for kids to be playing football. Kids this age cant even find their wangs. Id rather see them on the Xbox hitting each other virtually, and then complaining when one of them hits the reset button. But this kid will probably knock up four girls before he even turns 16, and the only reset button for that looks an awful lot like a wire coat hanger.

Like that article states, I don't know if throwing 6 year olds out there on a football field is a smart thing to do, but that kid is one hell of a hitter for his age. Lol.

1. First tackle -- looked like a cheap shot. It wasn't, just looked that way because the kid holding the ball looked like he was thinking "er, what do I do with this?" And that me asks the effin' parents what they are doing putting a "what do I do?" kid out there playing tackle football and hanging out with parents who want their kids playing ray nitschke at age 6.

2. Second tackle -- lousy tackling form. Coach should have been in his face telling him how to tackle correctly. If he was 12, that is, rather than 6. See #1.

Frankly, I'm not just bothered by the notion of organized tackle football at age 6. I'm disgusted.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I agree with your tackling assessments, but as far as 6 year olds playing tackle football.. I'm all for it! What bothered me was the way the coaches/parents were acting when the kid made a tackle. That makes me want to spear them fools in half.

If you are going to play tackle football in your life.. the earlier you start the better off you will be. Here the contact is minimal and coaches/parents can start teaching and instructing the kids how to give and take a hit properly.. not to mention it instills basic fundamentals early on.. which as well will help protect them when the contact is greater.

I showed up and helped for two practices his fall with my son.. the kids got tired of me in a hurry.. I took the defense and did little but teach them how to tackle properly on a tackling dummy the was bigger than most kids.. my son was the leader of the unhappy group of tacklers.. too bad. Learn repeat and do it again.

okay, let me be more clear.

I don't object to playing tackle football at 6. IIRC, I did.

What I object to is "organized" tackle football with uniforms, shoulder pads, parent coaches, painted sidelines and all the rest.
