An interesting way to rate players...

This site has taken a very in depth approach at ranking players... some interesting numbers pop out in a couple of categories...

QB .. Notice his value as a running QB.. I found that interesting in comparison with the league.

But also at Corner and OLB.. we have a fair share of players the rank pretty highly.. Kampman especially...

Interesting.. take a look.

It also shows the extreme importance of an offensive line, linemen and scheme being in perfect synchronization.

The Steelers overcame the loss of Faneca and won a SuperBowl.

Barely. It didn't hurt that no one can tackle Ben. I would submit that were that not the case, they wouldn't have even sniffed a SuperBowl.

And then you look where Faneca wound up.

Enough said, there.

I have not paid any attention to Faneca this year, so I could easily be a bit off-base on him.

I do know that the Steelers missed him... a LOT.

I think grading out a individual offensive lineman on statistics is borderline asinine.. there is so much complexity to overall protection schemes, that sack numbers are easily skewed from one lineman on a particular line. Meaning player X can easily take the blame for player Y's mistake in a read.

As far as run blocking.. one boat anchor of a lineman can drag down the entire unit..

Cullen Jenkins getting negative points against the run. 9th 3-4 DE in the league.

Interesting ratings, but I don't know how Justin Smith is the best 3-4 DE by far.

Just an example, of course.

One thing that got my attention is Ryan Grants stats. Since a lot of you claim Grant goes down right after contact. This site says different.

If I am reading this right:

Ryan Grant has 412 yards after contact. That is good for 10th in the league.

Ryan Grant has 16 Missed Tackles. Either broken or avoided them. Good for 10th in the league also.
