Wow.

Cutler's stats wouldn't be bad if it weren't for all those INTs.

And if the Packers didn't have those four losses they'd be undefeated. Thanks for the tip Mr. Obvious.

Just pointing it out. People call Cutler horrible and such.. And while he's 'sucking it up', he's still a serviceable QB. Don't throw those picks, and I bet the Bearce are as good as the Packers.

Orton was serviceable.
Cutler is a pick machine and cost a lot of potential talent that was lost in draft picks.

All Orton did for the Bears was win games. The guy came in as a rookie and netted what eight games in a row or something? Gets yanked for Rex, they fail.

The Bears would have been better off keeping Orton and their draft picks, in my thinking.

I am glad the Bears made that trade.. it has saddled the franchise with a roller coaster for a QB for many years.. the weakest part of Cutlers game is between his ears.. he has the poise of a jack rabbit mainlining caffeine.

Much like McNabb.. will be a yearly tease because of his physical skills only to be let down in the crunch.. they don't have the makeup to be leaders when the caca hits the fan.

I remember a few picks the other night (at least 2) that can't be pinned SOLEY on Cutler. Hester slipped up on the one pick.. and the other was a tip-drill pick. I gotta believe there were a few more of those types of INTs that Cutler threw.

Now the picks that he threw that were blatent.. I think he just needs more of a offensive line and a REAL WR (not Hester, BTW). I think that would settle him down enough for him to make proper reads/decisions.

I don't know, Hester is coming along quite nicely. With Cutler's arm, he could be something special... if Cutler gets some time in the pocket.

The guy can run, but he has horrible throwing mechanics, especially off the run. He needs an O-line so he can get settled. Or a coach like McCarthy. It's weird that he didn't get all of this sorted out under Shanahan. And it's only getting worse with the Bears, who have no guidance for QBs at all.

My only opinion is Rodgers would have been a disaster had he played right away. The Rodgers from Cal and now are 2 completely diff players. And that's because of McCarthy's coaching.

I disagree. Keep Hester back deep to return kicks/punts and do reverses/screens with him. He's had more than enough time to learn to be a real WR and still not seeing much from him.

He's projected to go over a 1000 yards this season. And this is just his thrid season at WR. He's shown signs of improvement every year. I think that he can become a pretty decent WR.

That said, he won't be a special one. Something he used to be at returning kicks and punts. They should draft another receiver and get him back there. He's like Tasker. He's too important on special teams to use anywhere else.

It pretty much got them to the SB his rookie season, right?

I've seen almost all the bears game for the last 2 years. Hester is a good #3 receiver thrust into the #1 spot. He will NEVER be a #1. Never i say!! He doesn't have the instincts. He catches the ball in space and he's lost out there. This isn't a punt return where it's structured, he has his blockers and he knows what he's doing. He's good on WR screens and deep plays. His hands suck for a WR and he sucks after the catch on medium routes. He doesn't have the instincts that a receiver for 10 years through highschool & college has. Doesn't fight for the ball. Doesn't come back to the ball. Route running is average/below average. He wouldn't be one of our top 4 receivers when our guys are healthy.

I've bemoaned this several times before. The Bears are ruining one of the best returners of the decade, maybe two decades, by using him as a WR. Devin Hester should be only returning kicks and punts with the occasional blend in on offense.

Bears should have signed Joey Galloway and relegated Hester to returning as his primary role.

I agree, 100%

They need a TRUE veteran WR and a few very talented young WRs. Then they can use Hester much like they did in his rookie year. And on screens/reverses.

beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.

wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
