The blueprint on how to get sacks against Green Bay is already well-known.

Mark my words: Dallas will NOT send the house with as much regularity as they have done against other teams. If you look at the film from this season Green Bay is substantially better against the blitz than 4-man pass rushes. I expect to see Dallas do as others have done and only rush four. Not to say we won't see blitzes, but again, the blueprint has already been laid out. Just rush four against the Packers and use the numbers game to mitigate the success of our receivers.

P.S. Obligatory Mike McCarthy is the root of all our problems remark. "Damn playcalling!"

I agree. Not trying to make a crack at Mike McCarthy but Green runs with a nice low pad level and good balance. Because of this, he will always be better than Grant at making people miss, getting a defender off balance and running past him or at least getting the extra 3 or 4 yards on a play that a guy like Grant doesn't get consistently because he runs up high, isn't that elusive and isn't overly fast. I'd like to see Green get 8-10 touches(age) and Grant get 10- 15 touches.

My game prediction: I fully expect the Packers to score TDs in this game. I guarantee more than one of these scores will be the result of a downfield throw that Rodgers buys time for by "holding the ball too long." Everyone will be very excited and happy about the Packers scoring. Later in the game, when McCarthy and Rodgers go for that same look downfield and it doesn't pan out, everyone will give up on McCarthy/Rodgers as if the TD play on the last drive was some sort of accident. Just watch.

I say get the ball in Ahman Green's hands with some screens, chip and outs, whatever, early and often.

1. I like our chances with him as a pass catcher out of the backfield.

2. I believe this would help open up the rest of our pass AND run game.

What happened to our TE play? To me that seems to be the part of our arsenal that has dropped off the face of the planet. I know Finley is out, but seriously, Lee has had more production in the past, and we've seen some flashes from Havner that he at least has the hands and can run. I know we are using them a lot more to chip and help in protection, but I don't remember seeing them pressure the middle of the field much at all, i think that can go a long way to opening up the middle running game.

The Cowboys are a 3-4 team. Anyway, I would rather move the chains, burn clock, dominate time of possession and keep the Cowboys' offense off the field than start chucking the ball deep.
Getting the ball out of Rodgers' hands will keep him from getting hit repeatedly and build rhythmn and confidence on offense.
It's cool scoring on those long bombs, but those tend to be fluke plays. The Vikings used to rely on those when they had Randy Moss and Chris Carter. I prefer a more high percentage, consistent approach.

The idea that any long pass is a fluke play is completely ridiculous. Yes, now and then teams just throw one up, ala Moss and Carter, but to say Rodgers throwing past 15 yards is just throwing it up and praying is just wrong.

I definitely have an overall tendency to agree with your critique of sports journalists---as a general rule. I believe this guy and his writing are refreshingly different.

I have no real dog in the fight, I enjoy what he writes, which pretty much is all I ask for, but your comment made me go look at his "pedigree"- so to speak.

Personally, after having looked into it, I'm having a tough time trying to figure out who would be more qualified to write what he wrote.

Having read what I wrote, I know I seem to be coming off as defensive or argumentative, and that was not my intent. I am just honestly surprised that others would find Bowen not qualified to write on these matters. A part of me believes that we all are so unused to a quality perspective from a sports writer that we will confuse a difference of opinion with a lack of ability and/or expertise on the writer's part. I would say there is truth to that, way more often than not.

Just not in this case.

In my opinion.
