It's the first year. We don't even have a full cup when it comes to personnel for it yet and a lot of the guys will only get better the more they play. I remember something about Woodley with the Steelers taking a year before he became a total beast in the 3-4.

But see, this *isn't* the first year. Sure, it's Capers' first year. But it's McCarthy's fourth, and it's Thompson's fifth.

You don't get a three (or four) year mulligan just because it took you that long to get the right DC or system in place.

IMO.

Trade Kampman away. Trade up to another 2nd.

1st round - OT Charles Brown
2nd round - OT Gabe Carimi
2nd round - OG Mike Johnson

Bam. We won't have any pass rush at all, but our O-line problems will be fixed. Or at least, should be fixed.

Anyway, McCarthy isn't getting the benefit of the doubt anymore over here. Lol.

i have no idea who those guys are but i agree with the strategy. I don't know who's available but if we could get just one player in the draft, i'd like it to be a franchise OT. One player like that makes a huge difference in your pass blocking schemes and gives you so much more flexibility. Example, don't have to keep a rb in the backfield and you have an extra receiver/safety valve. Keeps drives alive. keeps defense off the field, more points, more consistent. Sometimes, one great player makes a big difference.

trade one of our best Defensive players just for the sake of the 3-4? a scheme which hasn't brought SHIT to our game? fuck that. this 3-4 system is a fucking joke. how many sacks do we have? how much real pressure have we brought? interceptions compared to last year? coverage blown?

Agreed. I won't shed one tear if Capers and his 3-4 are gone next year.

I think the pressure of the last 18 months are starting to drain MM past the point of effectiveness.. his getting defensive in pressers, his pure overall look appears fatigued, maybe he is starting to crack under it all..

Franchise tag him and send him to the Redskins. Draft picks won't do us any good at this point, anyway. Just try to get something out of him now we still have him, since we can't actually trade him away, anymore.

That's not my preffered drafting method, btw.

OT - DE/OLB - OG. Now that'd be a nice way to fix our weaknesses.
