Report: Davis looking to fire Cable with cause

In a column for Yahoo! Sports called "Direct Snap" (which apparently is the Internet version of the Wildcat formation), Jason Cole buries the lead.

All the way to the bottom of the column.

Cole reports that the Raiders are cooperating with the league's investigation regarding coach Tom Cable because owner Al Davis wants to fire Cable after the season "with cause." This would permit the Raiders to refrain from paying Cable beyond the current season.

Frankly, we think Cable already has enough ammunition to fire Cable "with cause." (And not just "'cause" he's a bad coach.) In an August meeting with four of his subordinate employees, one of them left the room with a broken jaw. In most American workplaces, the guy who laid hands on the guy who fractured his face gets fired "with cause," even if the injury was technically an accident and even if there were no criminal charges filed or pursued.

Is Davis going for a record of new coaches in a decade?

Since 2000 they have had 6 coaches.

Awesome. I wonder who they're going to promote this time. Their D-line has been somewhat ok, so maybe Dwaine Board will get the nod.

It's just that Davis has given the NFL so much and is pretty much a legend, otherwise, I could've seen the NFL taking actions against the ownership of the Raiders. This is just getting ridiculous.

ANOTHER coach. Wow. Maybe it not all his fault he can't get a good coach. Who really WANTS to coach there?

I think he should be let go too.

The ONLY reason i want to see that is so i can use the sign i stole from the local Motel. I want to stand outside of the Raider's headquarters holding the sign........

I agree with giving him the boot. The last thing a troubled frachise needs is someone to make them look worse! I am tired of seeing all these NFL employees walking away with no consequences for their actions - thankfully we have seen more players/staff held accountable recently.

Just from what I know about the guy (which is not a whole lot) he will probably cause more harm than anything else to the Raiders. He has not done anything that has much improved the team, and at the salaries these coaches make they are expected to generate RESULTS! I have seen nothing from him whatsoever that would incline me to think he is a good coach in any way.
