These types of games happen, good teams sometimes stumble to those teams in struggle.

Want proof?

Think back to the mid 90's, the Superbowl Champion Packers roll into Indy, facing a team that is 0-10, Packers rolling into town 8-2, looking to salt away a gimme game to help secure home field. A team lining up Paul Justin at QB... A team that finished 3-13... and the Packers go down 41-38.

The Packers go onto the Superbowl..

Now, I am not saying that the Packers will bounce back and make a run at the playoffs, but what I am saying in this league "Any Given Sunday" a team can catch lightening in a bottle and put it together.

There is a fundamental flaw in the 09' Packers, but I have seen weirder things happen than the Packers making a run. It might not be probable but there is always that chance.

Lloyd: Hit me! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: [Gulps] You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I'd say more like... one out of a million.
Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance. Yeah!

Call it readjusting my expectations of this team, combined with a little dose of Tequila for good measure.

What I see happening is the Packers beat the Cowboys this weekend... yes I actually think they pull that off.. Cowboys really aren't that special so it is possible.

I truly expect a angry pissed off team to play this weekend.. if that fails... the shred of optimism I have left for the 09' season will evaporate quickly.. then I am going to be one pissed off SOB. Just in time for gun season.

It's been a really sad season. Playoffs hopes are dying quickly. If we lose next week we're done, probably not mathematically but in reality knowing this team we all know it's a long shot even from now.

The talent is there but it's not being utilized properly.

Mike McCarthy was brought here to groom Aaron Rodgers, that's been completed his services will be no longer needed. Now bring a coach that can win games and not only groom a QB.

Mike McCarthy had a major roll in Aaron Rodgers's play ... but nothing more to this team.

We also need an o-line coach. (Please Ted Thompson draft a RB in the first round a monster one).

Special teams wow ... Do I even need to brag about it?

That's the thing. I do think we have the talent. We got Pro Bowlers in Woody, Kampy, Al Harris, Jennings, and Driver. That's 5 Pro Bowlers on the team. Whoops. 6. Dammit, how can I forget Nick Collins?

We got guys I really like in Rodgers (who may be a Pro Bowler this year, but he's got stiff competition. Not knocking him, just saying that the competition is more fierce than it has been in years), Barnett, and Jenkins.

The thing we're not doing is winning games. I'd love MM as a QB Coach but he's not cutting it as HC. I seriously doubt he'd take a demotion, which is unfortunate because he's done a good job working with our QBs in the past 4 years. What he doesn't do is lead a team. We need someone who can lead a team.

Not at all.. that is my biggest gripe with MM.. he shows very little fire.. overall this team shows very little fire. We don't have an emotional spark plug like we had in the 90's.. a Wayne Simmons type that boils out a sense of every down pissedoffness.. we don't have a Gravedigger in the middle that makes a big play and energizes the team...

IMO.. that is another element that we are missing.. an enforcer upon the field.. not just for the opposition, but someone that can get in the grilles of this team and f&($ing demand excellence each and every snap.

A player whom knows how to place his foot upon the throat towards the end of a game.. someone that refuses to let the rest of the team settle for less than excellence..

IMO... above the line play, we are missing a true leader of this club both on the field and more importantly on the sideline and locker room.

Damn I miss a Wayne Simmons type of player.. not to many of them.. just one or two to install a little swagger on the field. Whatever happened to that fire in training camp and preseason on this defense.. damn..

Back to that reality check.. maybe just maybe, Rodgers will get so pissed off between this line and his coach that he will lose it, rip some MFing faces off in the huddle and become that true leader of this ball club.

Would it be wrong if during one of his pressure situations to turn towards the sidelines and drill MM in the noggin? Take that, holding the ball to long...
