Can you all help me out here? I'd like a full list of all free agents to be on the Packers.

IE
Aaron Kampman, UFA in 2010

or whatever he might be.

Unrestricted Free Agent.
Restricted Free Agent.

I want to compile a list of players who will be tied down another year vs who wont be tied down another depending on the CBA being redone or not.

GB Free Agent List

Unless I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I'm not, you need six years of service to be an unrestricted free agent.

Guys like Johnny Jolly, Daryn Colledge, Nick Collins, Tramon Williams, Jason Spitz, Atari Bigby, and Will Blackmon will all be restricted free agents.

Meaning Green Bay will have an option of tendering them which means that if signed to an offer sheet with another team, GB can match the offer or receive compensation depending on the tender. Since it'll be an uncapped year and the Packers have a lot of money to spend, they'll likely put high tenders on key players such as Collins, Jolly, Bigby, Colledge, Spitz, and Williams. It'll be unlikely anyone gives up high picks for any of those players in this year's draft which is deep.

The unrestricted free agent list is basically this

Chad Clifton
Ryan Pickett
Aaron Kampman
Brandon Chiller

Those four will be able to sign anywhere, but I certainly see GB using the franchise tag on Kampman and they'll get a transition tag to use as well which I would use on Pickett.

If any of these three are not signed i guarantee they are going to the Vikings.

Well the Vikings have shown interest in Kampman in the past, and he would be a great addition on that team. However, I don't think they could fit him under the cap, and the Packers would tag him before letting him walk.

As it sits currently without a CBA extension.. this is correct..

However, I think all signs are pointing to urgency starting to be placed on a new CBA.. first the rumblings of a postseason strike.. now both parties (NFL and NFLPA) taking all talk out of the media.. which means real discussions will begin.. at least there is a chance for a new CBA.

I think this is a bigger issue than most realize.. the effective revenue sharing model is a lifeblood of this competitive and popular league... both sides are playing with fire IMO.

Sorry.. for the mild off topic post.. but in a way it all ties in.. want a reason most players aren't being resigned.. this plays into the deal.. are they free or restricted? It impacts the deal clubs are willing to offer.. and why the rumblings about pushing the CBA from the players is beginning..

Correct me if I'm wrong.
If a new CBA is signed the Pack will have alot of key players, especially on defense, to deal with over the next 2 years which could spell trouble.

If no new CBA is put in place the Pack could be in trouble because they have no owner with deep pockets and perhaps lose some of their better players to wealthier teams.

It seems both scenarios could mean trouble for the Packers being a small market team, but I would have to believe having a CBA in place would be a better situation overall.

That is the conundrum that the Packers and other teams will find themselves in..

The next 10 months I think are going to be filled with a lot of angst from clubs, players and fans.

I think we should keep tabs on the collective bargaining agreement.
