My surgery yesterday went fine. The doc had to do a bit more repair than was expected. The tear in the inguinal canal was much larger than showed on the CT scan so he had to use some extra mesh on both the inside and outside edges of it. Found out the mesh is gold colored, so now part of my insides have half the Packer colors. He used a green marker pen to mark where the incision was going so I'm truly and "green and gold" guy.
The recovery room was funny.....if only I'd been 100% awake and coherent I could have really had a good time. From my best and fuzzy memory:
"Bob, wake up."
"Do I have to?'
"Yes...we need this bed for another patient. You're breathing, the bleeding has sort of stopped, and your snoring is waking up the patients on the 6th floor. (we're on the second)
"Just a few more minutes of sleep. I was having a good dream. The Packers were on their way to the Super Bowl. And Brett Favre was back with the Packers.....I just saw him walk through here and he said Hi to me and to take it easy. Had his old #4 Packer jersey on."
"That wasn't Brett you numbskull. First of all you don't dream under anethesia and the person you saw was Lisa, your surgeons nurse. She is a Packer nut and had her old Favre jersey on under her scrubs. She was getting a clean scrub outfit after you kind of had an accident on her when they put you out."
"Jeez, I told them I had to go REAL bad just before they wheeled me to surgery. Doesn't anyone take me seriously around here?"
Nurse exits laughing uncontrollably....
