Would we even be allowed to sign Heckendorf laterally to our practice squad? If we wanted to acquire him, wouldn't we have to sign him to the 53-man roster?

So the answer is no. We'd have to sign him to the 53-man roster first.

The only way Hackendorf comes back is if we sign him to our 53-man roster off the Lions practice squad. Only way we could add him to ours is if the Lions released him.

Jake Allen makes the most sense because any street free agent we sign now will not be ready to play against the Vikings. Allen would at least give us a 4th receiver behind our our healthy three and has been in the system for awhile now.

No doubt Finley is the biggest loss though. All you can do is hope Lee and Havner can pick up the slack a bit. Winfield being out should help.
