I think the Bears were optimistic too. The difference is they beat the Steelers. Look at them now.

That being said..... You guys actually have a reason to be optimistic. As long as Favre can hold up you have a good chance at going into the post season with a solid team.

That defense is playing like ASS. Peterson is not doing anything out of this world. His receivers dropped like 7 easy balls and the last one returned for a TD when Favre was about to punch in the go ahead score. If you watched it, you know this is so. To say otherwise is just sour grapes.

Favre wasn't out there himself... but comments like this skew the arguments.

It's been said over and over and over that the Vikings have a good team. I don't know how many times I've myself said it. It's true. And even said it just a few posts prior in this very thread. What more do you freaking want? Do you think I ENJOY saying that garbage? No, but I try to call as I see it.

First off, I don't see how Gravedigga's comment could have been skewed too much. The only objection I have is the defense playing like 'ASS'. I agree, it could have played better.. and if they knew how to catch an effin' football, they could have put the game away long before the last ditch effort at the end (two plays IN A ROW Vikings defenders dropped easy INTs on the drive with Rothlesburger's TD pass to their rookie WR). But otherwise, with the Whinny injury, I was impressed with the Vikings D.

Second off, you know damn straight that I would have been 'mauled' if I came on here complaining about ref calls and bad bounces, and how the one 'tripping' penalty caused a 14 point swing that could have effected the outcome of the game, and how Favre's INT was in no way his fault because it hit Chester RIGHT IN THE DAMN HANDS. It would have been turned around into how much I sniffed Brett's jock and how he could do no wrong that game.

Maybe not by you, or by even the majority.. But there would have been people here that would have eaten that crap up. Bottom line, the Vikings played a fairly good game, and the Stillers played a notch better.

Formo I wouldn't maul you at all. Despite the fact that you're a fan of almost every sporting team that I hate I respect your opinions. I think everyone in this thread can be accused of being a hypocrite (except Zero--apparently he hates the Vikings?). It's natural for a fan of any team to make excuses after a loss and rub it in opposing fans face when they get a win.

I just dislike that most people decide to bash my observations with snide remarks when I have no intentions of insulting anyone. I believe what I write on the forums most the times and I am quite aware of the fact that I can be wrong. I try to inform people when I'm biased and make every attempt to show why I have the opinions I've formed. My only problems arise from people taking my statements, quoting only parts of them and bashing not just my opinion but myself in a completely negative and deconstructive fashion. I don't mind banter but can we please be intelligent?

Well, that game, to give credit where it's due...

The Vikings were able to drive for a lot of the game. It's when you guys got into the Red Zone, the Steeler D turned into a brick wall. So I don't think it was you losing as much as the Steeler D winning that game.

The Steelers were actually scary good yesterday. I really don't want to see the Steelers in the SB 2 years in a row, but I also don't want to see the Colts there either as it looks like right now it will be either the Colts or Steelers from the AFC.

Sure the Steelers lost 2 games, but by 6 points total. Make no mistake about it, you guys got beaten by an elite team.

I'm not sure how it get's translated with everyone else but I just meant that the Vikings are a solid team and as long as your QB can hold up you got a shot. You guys needed a decent veteran QB to round things out. You have that now. I don't believe TJ would have given you the leadership on offense that Brett does. Someday maybe but not now. Now is when the Vikings are at there peak. You may not be there again as a whole team for a while.

Enjoy it.

Wait wait... do Vikings fans really think that tripping call was a bad call? It was a bad play at a very inopportune time, I will give them that. But if that's not a trip, I'm not sure what is.

Yes, it was a bad call. He left the ground (thus eliminating a possibility for him to purposefully attempt to 'trip' the defender), which I agree with Pack93z isn't the best way to block, but it wasn't a trip.. I've seen multiple backs make that type of block, and never have I seen a flag for 'tripping'. You claiming it a trip is seeing it through green goggles.
