Michael Huff, really?

The guy has played alright this season, but he has been complete bust the last 3 years. He wasn't even starting this season until someone got hurt. He was almost cut before the season as well.

The bottom line is that whole top of that draft was pretty weak.

Al Davis wants Huff off the team. Al Davis of all people. So I don't think Huff would've been better than Hawk.

We are unbelivably better at stopping the run this season and Hawk is much better in coverage than Bishop has been. Hawk has shown a great deal of speed to me this year as he's chased sideline to sideline has made plays down field as well as at the line of scrimmage. There's no need to go to a one dimentional player like Bishop when our run defense is performing so well.

I guess after 32 threads on hiw bad Hawk is, it must be the truth!!!

ANOTHER TED THOMPSON FUCK UP!!!!

Hell the guy couldn't play in college, I don't know why Thompson ever drafted him.

The leas he could do now is cut the worthless bastard and put in someone else, who may or may not actually know his assignments.

Every year there has to be one, this year it is AJ Hawk, some of you don't get it, never had , and never will, so I say let's cut Hawk loose so he can go play somewhere else.

I damn guarantee you he would be picked up in 30 seconds.

Ted Thompson made a lot of dumb mistakes. Hawk wasn't one of them.

If you take ANY sports rag from that year discussing the draft, I guarantee you more than 90% would have AJ Hawk in their top 10 for mock drafts. Hawk was good in college, and he was exactly who I wanted as our 1st round pick.

Now, I bet on this forum, if everyone was honest, the vast majority were happy when it was announced that AJ Hawk was our 1st round pick. I know I was.

You have to go to the second page when sorting linebackers by tackles to even find him (there's 50 per page, and then he's down in the middle of that page (#74 overall).

As a 1st rounder, and the 5th overall pick, I'd expect him to perform closer to a D'Qwell Jackson, Ray Lewis, Barrett Ruud, Thomas Davis, London Fletcher than to a Nick Roach (the LB immediately in front of him on the list). D'Qwell Jackson (taken in the 2nd round of the draft that year) plays LILB in a 3-4 defense, too, for Cleveland. DJ had 188 tackles last year, and 59 this year before going on IR this week.
Ted Thompson wasn't mentioned anywhere until buckeye brought him up. Hawk wasn't a Ted Thompson screw up.

What happened to Hawk????

I don't have play stats, but I'd bet money that Hawk's played more downs than Chillar.

You'd lose that bet. Hawk played a grand total of nine snaps against Lions.

Was he injured? Or was it due to performance?

I'm just wondering where they guy went that was so dominant in college, the guy who led the Buckeyes in tackles 3 years in a row. I'm just not seeing that guy on the field during games.

According to McCarthy, Hawk didn't play much against the Lions because they didn't play many snaps in the base defense, which is what Hawk starts in.

Hawk is one of my favorite players on the team, I don't really know why, but I like him. I'm getting SOOOO mad at all of these threads bashing Hawk. At LEAST go back to the SAME thread that was originally started, instead of posting a new one for the 300th time since before the season started.

Can't compare stats on these guys. I have used this analogy before. Hawk is the FB of the defense. He many not be making as many tackles or getting huge sacks and making the highlights. He is just doing his job. He takes on the lead blockers so Barnett or who ever can make the tackle. He is sacrificing himself for the team.

"Tezzy" wrote:

I'm not buying it. He was a 1st round, 5th pick in the draft. He needs to be more than the FB of the defense. He needs to be the star QB/RB/WR.

"nerdmann" wrote:

This may all be the case, but I'd like to see Bishop out there. Give Bishop a chance, if he F's up, then at least we'd know. Then we can go back to Hawk.
Bishop just makes plays, flat out.

"macbob" wrote:

Bishop needs to help himself. The snaps he has gotten he needs to take better advantage of. I believe that if he had committed less penalties from those snaps he'd get more opportunities. The one that really sticks out was the offside penalty on that play that PI got called on. To me the preseason Bishop looks much different then the regular season Bishop in those snaps he has had. And I honestly believe he makes more mistakes than big plays in the big picture.

"PackFanWithTwins" wrote:

Maybe. My take is that he's trying to hard to take advantage of too few opportunities.

beast (11h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (11h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (21h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (21h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (23h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
