People seem to want Tauscher put in so badly, but what makes anyone think he can handle the rigors of a game with a freshly repaired. Besides, Babre and Sitton seem to be settling down on the right, it's the left side that is a mess.

You mean the communication where they left multiple people come free, I especially liked when Barbre went outside on a corner and left the end go completely free between him and Sitton.

Face it.. the protection scheme, communication and execution along this line is awful. That speaks as much to coaching as anything.

Clifton had a terrible game and in my opinion should not have been on the field. He was cheating as much as he could to protect that fact that he could not effectively push off his inside leg/ankle.. the guy is a gamer, but he isn't ready to be on the field. They need to shut him down for several weeks at the least..

That leads to the next issue.. Breno is obviously not ready to play, healthy scratch each and every week. My opinion, they need to acquire some depth at the left side to give us a fall back if Lang struggles.. The Eagles most likely will be looking, that will tighten up the pool of available players.

This is tiring speaking of the same issue (Oline performance) for a few years.. think we might want to correct it soon? Please.

Well I'm sorry, but this stuff needs to be corrected in the off season. You don't go filling in your roster at the quarter break of the regular season. I'm more interested in solving the problem with what we have currently. Plays break down and players fuck up. Limiting the FU's is coaching. Another glaring problem is stability. I too want Clifton shut down and I want him replaced in the off season. I'm not going to dwell in the past like other posters do about all he has done for us, he was payed well. We messed up in this draft because there were quite a few good tackles and we didn't grab any, which really surprised me.

Disagree that you don't fill holes on the roster during the season.

In the mid 90's when we made our runs.. we did it often.

Names like Keith Jackson and Andre Rison come to mind.. it certainly can be an effective tool to shore up mid season blues..

Talk is cheap - who's going to just hand over a quality LT to us? Uncle Ted would mess it up anyway trying to low ball.

LOL.. I see your point.. why get our hopes up. ;)

Just saying, the Eagles probably will be thinning the market out even further.. if someone is dangling a player out there.. move swiftly.

I probably am to nervous about leaving little in terms of options behind Lang.

How long is Clifton going to be out for? Anyone heard?

It seems that subbing Lang in for Clifton is a much smarter move than shuffling the whole line to move Colledge over. Lang held his own against an (admittedly very pedestrian) Detroit rush, and looked pretty good run blocking.

Looking down the road, I'll assume that Lang gets the start against Cleveland. If he does well, should we start him against Minnesota?

Only thing I heard is that Clifton re-aggravated the same ankle. With that being, I would expect him out at least a week, and no way want him in the game against MN on 1 weeks practice at the most. Right now, I would say give the job to Lang and let him keep or lose it.

I am all for letting him have the job... I think it would be wise to add a player to the roster (Breno's spot) that can actually help on Sunday's.. if nothing more than add some protect to Lang if he struggles.

Looking at Clifton on the sideline, for the first time since the Sapp hit for me personally.. I think it may be time to call off the dogs.. the guy has played his heart out here.. he has nothing left to prove. I would like to see him be able to walk at 45...

I remember when I used to get hammered on a certain other Packers board for claiming that GB had, at best, "serviceable" offensive linemen.

What an optimist I was.

A riddle for you:

Hosed right and left,
Experts at illegal procedure,
Holding, and other unlawful contact,
Backed up against the wall, or on their back,
Who are they?

a. 10 dollar whores with the clap.
b. The Packer OL.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Looking more in detail. The offensive line was penalized 6 times, 4 by Clifton. The guy has always committed penalties. The remaining 2. 1 false starter by Sitton on the first drive and the other was unnecessary roughness on Colledge, and that was a play, I wouldn't change what he did.

Clifton benching himself with his bum ankle may be a big part of the cure for the penalty woes on the offense.

Colledge and Driver both had penalties.

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
