Thompson will never fire McCarthy IMO. They'll go down together. Thompson has done a fine job through the draft, but that's the only resource he uses. I don't think anyone wants to see him go all Mike Sherman and give out ridiculous contracts, but it'd be nice to maybe go out and get one or two players even if it means overpaying which you have to do in today's NFL. That's just the way it is.

The Packers should have signed some offensive line help. I was saying that in the off season as well. I think releasing Anthony Smith was a huge mistake and still somewhat a mystery. He's opted youth over the veteran just about every single time and you can only get away with it so many times.

GMs seem to get two cracks at picking head coaches, so I suspect Ted Thompson will have another chance at bringing in the right guy if he feels Mike McCarthy isn't it.

As for Ted Thompson 'growing a pair' he often gets knocked for not taking risks. Considering he hired the Offensive Coordinator of statistically the worst offense in the NFL as his first HC that seems pretty brave. He also released the most loved QB in franchise history and this year traded half his draft to move back into the first round.

The man can make major moves with the best of them.

Last year he could have brought in the security blanket of a re-tread QB but opted to stick with two rookies. He's far from risk averse.

I also think he would fire Mike McCarthy if he felt it was the best thing for the club.

Ok i skipped over reading alot of these posts but i will go back and read them. Most people here now i just love Ted Thompson (a little sarcasm :P) but with these years moves im starting to wonder if the players on this team are more from Mike McCarthy and not TT. After all we have heard recently it was Mike McCarthy that wanted Lord Favre gone and now we have strange cuts that are basically calls from the hc. So as i have stated before i'm wondering if Mike McCarthy is TT's puppet master.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I have been spot on about Thompsons failures over and over again for years.

I stated when Colledge was drafted he had terrible footwork and leverage. I was called wrong.

I've stated my main problem with Thompson was not letting Favre go but his failures to assemble an O-Line. Was bitching about it years ago.

I've argued ad naseum with people regarding the "depth" of this team and was labeled "just a hater".

I told people this team isn't very good this year and was again labeled a hater.

I told people Rodgers hangs on to the ball too long, long ago. I was told I'm mad about the Favre thing.

I've been damn near spot on and nobody hear will admit it. They just continually discredit every valid point I make and tell me "it will get better"

It's not getting better, This team is a disaster, Brett's having success while A-Rods holding on to the ball and getting killed with his conservative ass.

Time for Ted Thompson to go, well past time in fact.

Yes, Rodgers holds the ball too long, what a TERRIBLE QB, we should trade him away for a 7th round pick, right? Yes, that's over the top, but you're making it sound like he's garbage because he holds the ball too long.

Yes, Thompson sucks at building an OL, that's been hashed over and over and over by MANY!

Colledge is a capable LG. When you bounce a player between positions, of course he's going to look like shit.

And if that's the best list you can come up with for Thompson being a failure, well, that's a failed agenda, big time.

Anyone reading your posts can count the times you mentioned Favre and that pretty much sells you out on your perception, not saying it's an accurate sell out, but throwing Favre this and that around did not make you look wise, it made you look ... bitter!

Thompson has faults. RB, OL, failure to land Free Agents to name a few off the top of my head. He's also done quite a bit for the team, but in my opinion, he needs to stop pussy footing around and throw some cash and nuts around to land us some PLAYMAKERS.

We look like a 9-7 team this year. Nobody's getting fired.

That said, I think some apologies are owed to people like DHazer, who I always liked. I'm more an optimist than he, but he was getting bashed severely for criticizing TT's regime. I think both Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy are average, which wouldn't warrant them being fired. 13-3 was a freak year (you can thank Brett Lorenzo Favre for that year), but so was 6-10. If we make the Playoffs, we'll go one and out.

If he is owed an apology, so am I and many others. No one deserves anything for being a pessimistic fan when there's 31 loser regimes every year. You're probability of being right is very likely to be true. So, those who are pessimistic, in my opinion have no balls at all. What takes some balls is trying to find positives in a pile of dung and being public about it. I'd rather be a fan who aims high instead of a fan who aims low then comes around to boast about how they were "right" after four games into the season.

Thank the Vikings QB? No chance in hell. :xcensoredx:

I completely agree, 13 wins, freak, 6 wins, freak. Got fortunate one year, unfortunate the next. 9 wins this year sounds right and I add one for a homer pick, which puts it at 10 for me.

I'm with you on the one and outsie in the playoffs too.

I have supported the PACKERS in their moves and lack of moves for awhile under this regime. I understood we had to build a solid core of players. I was under the (false) impression that once we had a core group, we'd start branching out and taking a few risks here and there like Mr. Wolf did. However, in my opinion, Thompson is failing miserably at this and it's crap. Sure, there's nothing out there, but then you dig deeper and find something.

We've heard from our HC that you have to clean your house. Heard this one for a few years now. Well, it's time to redecorate the house with some furniture that doesn't shit all over the place.

The players we have now are not getting it done.
Jackson, Barnett, Wynn, Blackmon, Bush, Guards playing Tackles?, 2 inexperienced QB's at backup?, ... I'm going to stop there before I get too depressed.
