I heard Jon Gruden a few weeks ago discussing football and thought that he must suck as an announcer. He must have had an off game. I really thought he brought a lot to the booth in terms of not just being able to say what the players were trying to do on a particular play, but what they should have been doing when they didn't perform. This was the first Monday night game I've seen this year (too cheap for cable) and I must say I like him in the booth.
I also like Troy Aikman (which is hard to admit because I hated him when he played). I can't stand Chris Collinsworth, who always sinks into gushing on and about a particular player, and never really has anything constructive to say. Joe Buck isn't bad, he just annoys me. I've always thought that Al Michaels was good. John Madden, despite the Maddenisms, really knew football. I kind of miss hearing him call games, plus he made/sponsored an awesome video game  .
Thoughts? (even though I know I am going to get ripped for the Madden thing).
