DAmn people calm down i predict in the next 5 weeks we will be back in the race for the division. We have a bye week, then we have the Lions, Browns, Vikes, and Tampa. That should be 3 if not 4 wins to move us to 5-3 or 6-2. Now look at the Vikes schedule they have the Rams, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Packers, so i can see them have a 5-3 or 6-2 record.

So have some faith people its not over yet.

That's a good point, but the Browns can really rattle our cage with our O-line play. Their new DC (Rob Ryan) is one of those Ravens defense guys. It's pretty scary. I mean, he is Rex' brother and Buddy's son, so you can pretty much guess how he runs that defense even if you haven't seen it in action.

The Lions where pretty decent against the Bears. They're not last years Lions.

I think that we should beat these teams right now, but not by much. And if you're struggling with teams like that, you're not a contender. If we shore up that O-line, we dominate both those teams.

That, and if we can get a good pass rush (Especially against the Browns respectable O-line), we'll be good. I just don't see it happening, though.

I have stood behind Ted Thompson.
I will till the season is over. If the team doesn't turn it around during that time, i'm off his band wagon.

I'm fine with Thompson. Last year he showed he can make the tough and right decision regardless of public opinion. I do not like his lack of Free Agent pick ups, but on the flip side, you shouldn't spend 5 million on 3 million talent. Here's where I'm a hypocrite on that, because I felt we should have overpaid for Chris Canty. Anyhow ...

I think the problem is Mike McCarthy, not Thompson.

I'm with you on this one. Thompson has put the talent in place and it's up to the coaches to mold it. McCarthy hasn't. Yet. It's still early in the season and loss like this is devastating but going into a bye week so early it humbles us too. We have time now to get on a roll. No more national pressure, just pressure from the fans. The Favre excuse can't be used anymore. Plus I can't wait til the Vikes come to lambeau. I have a feeling that game will be different.

Could be. By then Rodgers will probably be injured and unable to play due to our shitty offensive line. So with Flynn running the show, it will definitely be different.

I've been a Thompson "apologist" (I prefer to say that I've supported him, but whatever) to this point, and I can't agree that he's put the talent on the field. In the skill positions? Sure. On defense? Yeah, okay. On the o-line? Hell. No. And it's showing up this season. The paucity of talent and depth along that line is easily the number 1 problem this team has. Easily.

Overall, I very much agree with drafting well and grooming talent. But I also think you ought to use all the tools in your belt to fix what's broken - that OL is and has been broken for a while now, and Ted is not using all his tools.

I expect to hear that we at least contacted: Levi Brown, Tauscher, and a couple more FAs. I expect to hear that we hit the phones to talk deals with other teams who might be hoarding o-line talent. Put simply, I expect that Thompson use all the tools at his disposal over the bye to shore this line up. If I don't hear that, if he doesn't do it, then he's on the hot seat in my little world.

I want to see him using all of his "smart" tools. I see no reason to start hammering away with misshapen cudgels, i.e. bring Levi Brown in, who nobody in the NFL wants right now. You can NOT tell me that this is as talented as our current O-line can be. I'm putting it on the coaches. I don't like the line's approach to blocking, and that goes straight to the coaches.

Exactly. Who calls that cut block on Jared Allen? That was terrible. He just ran right around and stiffed Rodgers with Colledge lying on the ground looking like a fool.

That was actually one sack where I think they simply got the better of us. All of the quick routes were completely covered and Rodgers had nowhere to go with it, and based on the cut block Colledge threw, that ball was probably supposed to come out of there inside of 2 seconds.

I'm with you, but only if we're going to concede the season 4 games in. One, I don't know of any O-line coaches available (other than Jags - and like Levi Brown nobody seems to want him, either), and two, changing over the whole o-line philosophy seems like off-season stuff (then again, I don't claim to be an expert - perhaps it's not as involved as I'm assuming it is).

Runyan, Brown, Tauscher - bring 'em all in, see what they have. We don't need a great o-line - we just need a decent one.

I agree on that sack, BTW - Allen used College on that one, because he's (Allen) just really freaking good. Best just to admit that and to realize he's going to get through at times.
