Losing Clifton so Colledge can play LT?

No it's not good. As much as I think Clifton is done, Colledge is not a tackle in this league. He never was going to be. He doesn't have the strength, footwork, or build to play it.

If Clifton can at least be average. GB can get by with him.

Ummm.... Colledge clearly does have the strength..... OG are normally stronger than OTs. Also Colledge did have the footwork and build to play OT coming into the NFL......

I think he's seriously has focused in on OG and has become a dang good one but not working on the footwork OT need to work on. I think if Colledge does he could become a good OT. But it will take time to unlearn OG and learn OT.

'Has to get stronger, great passblocker'.

Makes you wonder, if he had been groomed into more of a pass blocker instead of a guard, maybe more focused on the inside and running the ball, what might've been. He still has a shot. He's not too old or anything.

I don't think that losing Clifton is a good thing. I think it's quite horrible. Lets see how this'll work out. Since we're actually signing a safety, maybe Ted will go after some O-lineman as well if/when another of our guys on the O-line goes down.

Losing an OL who can play is NEVER a good thing at any level of football.

Is not good. I don't think Colledge can handle that position.

Actually, I think if Colledge weren't gimpy last week, he would have handled things just fine. I'd actually shut Clifton down right now until after the bye week. Also, I'd put Wells back on the bench and insert TJ Lang at left guard, and let them play a shitty Rams team and the best D-line in football (painful as that is to say) in Minnesota. Then the bye week we can really figure out what we have.

I think the big Hillbilly plays well on slow surfaces, but gets his ass handed him against speed rushers on turf. Why rush him back?

That is exactly Clifton to a tee.. yet many fail to see that we play most of our games on natural grass.. which plays into Clifton's wheel well.

I agree that Colledge's natural position should be tackle with the way in the past he has played more upright.. but he is just starting to stay low.. moving him out is going to mess up his play inside again.. I fear.

We had depth questions at tackle before the draft, we had depth questions in Training Camp.. we had depth at the final roster.. and we have serious questions now.. yet we have stayed static on the roster.

I have no problem working out safeties.. but my opinion that should come after we have eyeballed all available options along this offensive line on th market... this is the real crux of the issues with this team so far this season.. the defense will come back around... the offensive line without a influx of talent hitting the field.. I fear won't.

Really? I don't remember Clifton ever getting "his ass handed to him" on artificial turf, with the exception of last year at Minnesota. He was one of the better left tackles in the league up until last season.

No, it's not good - unless you're interested in seeing the team fail this season and possibly get their young QB killed in the process.

Luckily, we haven't lost him - let's all send happy ankle-healing thoughts his way, because unless Ted's got one hell of a LT hidden up his sleeve we'll need him if we want to have a chance to compete this season.
