J.C. Tretter gets a much-needed change of scenery along with a contract in Cleveland.

Bummer to lose him, but I'm not sure if the Packers have enough money to go around. Hopefully he nets the Packers a nice compensatory selection, but it will probably only be a 5th or a 6th.

Browns just paid 12M for both Zeitler and Biotano on an extension.

There were 8+ teams after Tretter and he signed in the first few hours with Cleveland. That means its no less than 8M per, which nets us a solid 4th! If he got closer to 10M in could be a 3rd.

Not sure this is a win for the Packers. The price for TJ just went up and we lost a player who when healthy could be a quality starting RG, or C. And we have nobody behind Linsley who we are going to have to pay next year since we don't have a replacement for him anymore. Even if we did get a 3rd round comp pick next year, that does nothing to help us now, and probably not for 3-4 years minimum.

It looks like Tretter is getting just over 5m a year without a big guarantee. I would have been fine with paying that. Hyde got 6m/year and 14m guaranteed, I am more than fine with letting that one go. Hyde was crap way more often than he actually made a play. I bet buffalo will be regretting that one.

As for Hyde, although I liked him more than you apparently did, 14 mil guaranteed is ridiculous for a career backup. Good for him, I wish him well, but no way the team can pay that.

Via Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Packers have re-signed center-guard Don Barclay to a one-year, $1.3 million deal.

Tretter's contract was initially reported as 3 years 16.75M and 10M guaranteed. That would have gotten us a 4th.

But, the it's Kelly Ann Conway 10M. The signing bonus is only 4.5M, 2M base guaranteed in 2017 and 3.5M guaranteed at beginning of 2018 season. So that will probably be a 5th.

Browns can get out after 1 year at 6.75M [Cap = 3.75M] with 3M dead cap.
