I think we need to call more plays that have a safety valve for Rodgers. He see's blitz, dump it to his safety right away instead of using that RB/FB as a blocker because that's not working.

One of MM's problems is he can't adjust very well during games.

This is one thing that should have been done. Remember when Lynn Dickey used to have the worst OL in all of football? Well, we did a lot of screen passes to Gerry Ellis to compensate. Used to drive Ds nuts.

This is something we should be doing, and something we should have been doing during the Bengals game.

One of the problems, with McCarthy's play calling is the safety valves have been TE or RB, and they end up having to chip block to give Rodgers even enough time to even make to his drop. The safety valve is the last option in the passing reads.

If Rodgers needs to go a hot route when being rushed by a base defense, then we are in trouble.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

if the pack continues to play as they did today then yes jobs ARE in jeopardy, however today's game was just horrible, crapload of dropped passes, Ryan grant fumble machine came out again, and last but not least the LT got beat multiple by ANTWAN ODOM for 5 sacks....ANTWAN ODOM are you freakin kidding me????? wow.....i hope they can rebound because this one was just sloppy all around and AT HOME....

It's one loss and I'm probably the only one on here not shocked that they loss. I picked the Bengals to cover and I actually had a bad vibe all week long as I said in my packer fix. It seemed like the Packers and I mean everyone from players to coaches were buying into their hype a little bit to much especially for a team coming off of six wins.

Jobs unforunately are not in jeopardy unless you believe this is is five or fewer win team which I'm confident it is not.

I personally believe the Packers have to compete for the playoffs or changes should be made. I'm not in charge and chances are neither is anyone reading this post. This one loss doesn't change my perspective like it probably has some. The Packers will not make any changes unless they completely fall off the map.

I never thought this would be a rout, so I can't say I'm shocked they lost. I'm just shocked at how bad they looked. I don't mind a hard-fought defeat to a superior team, but today the Packers were simply manhandled in every conceivable way. That's what I think is so amazing.

OMG! LOL!! I laughed so hard I got dizzy!!! That .gif is EXACTLY how I felt reading this thread!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!! Thank you VR!!!

Funny, cause the Bears fans around here were crying that we would go 2-0 and I told em we have a tendency to lose to shit teams and beat good ones.

That's precisely why I stayed out of all the threads predicting routs this week. As far back as 1998, when the 10-0 Packers lost to the 0-10 Colts, I've noticed a disturbing tendency for this team to lose to the teams they really should beat. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during their pep talks and see what these guys are thinking before stepping on the field. They certainly seem underprepared for some opponents.

"NormaL" wrote:

Hmm.. Wasn't that in '97? Because, in '98, the Vikings delivered the Packers their first lost during week 4 or 5, on a Monday Night, in Lambeau.

It was Peyton Manning's rookie year, and I think he was drafted in 1998.

It was 97. I remember the game. I was mad.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/gnb/1997.htm

Colts won 3 games all year. Packers won 13.

or at least this is the game that comes to mind.

Yeah.. it had to be that year.. That was the year before Manning was drafted. I remember that game very well.. The Packers swept my Vikings and to see them give the winless Colts their first win of the year made my Sunday. I remember watching that game (which was odd for me to watch a non-Viking game those days).

Geez, one loss to the Bengals and it's a fire Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy thread?

"bigfog" wrote:

Losses to the Bungles engender that sort of anger. If they lose to Detroit, riots in the streets with mobs carrying pitchforks and torches.

"go.pack.go." wrote:

Loss to the Bengals was very painful to swallow. I had thought that we could have finally synced on offense but that O Line is in trouble right now. Mike and Ted praised that line during preseason and now we all see what is going on. Rodgers got dropped 5 times today and he was hit hard. Not panicking just worried a bit
