I took Lions with the 10 points out of optimism, but I don't think that they will win.

If the Lions pull this off.. it will mark two things clear.

1) That the Lions staying with the Saints wasn't a fluke.

2) That the Vikings staying with the Brownies in the first half wasn't a fluke either.

A co-worker laughed at me when I made this pick earlier in the week. He actually watched me hit submit because he didn't think I was going to.

I think the Lions can pull this one off. I think that last game gave them enough confidence to do it. I think Adrian will run wild, again, but I think we'll see a few connections with Stafford and Johnson that will topple the Vikings.

Now King predicts it too, so now I know I'm screwed.

Don't tell Vikesrule I said this, but I think I would feel bad for the Vikes (at least for a couple of seconds, anyway) if this were to come to pass.

As good as both the Lions and and their fans would feel, as well as the other teams in the division and their fans...the team that is "first" and their fans are NOT going to be happy.

nahhh, nevermind, brief lapse into compassion there, no worries, it was fleeting in nature.

I do remember the real fear that we would be the ones to break the sad streak last game last year. It is not much of a "win-win" feeling. It would be good to have SOMEONE lose to the Lions before we play them-again-- The fear of being that first team weighs on the team and fans, imo.

This week would be a most auspicious time for this to occur...

I hope Zero gets to say, "I told you so!"

I called the Lions office today and asked them what time the game started Sunday. They replied, "What time can you get here?" ::razz:

Who has more pressure?

Vikings who are paying 12 million for a QB to hand off and dink and dunk that is claimed to be Super Bowl contenders .... or a Lions team that is under new staff with a new rookie QB and trying to make a name for itself?

The Lions don't have much of a running game from what I remember. So they won't be having their best offensive weapons neutralized by the Vikings powerhouse run defense.

But the Lions will get torched up and down the field with Adrian and Brett's dinking and dunking.

I think this will be a higher scoring game.

31 - 27 Lions

Kevin Smith put up just about a 1000 yards last season.. considering they were behind in every ballgame for the majority of the time.. that is impressive.

It was a LOOOONG time ago, but after the 2009 schedule came out, Rockmolder presented his Packer schedule W-L record. A few of ya'll did it, as did I with my Vikings. I remember marking them as going 1-1 against the Lions. I just don't remember which game I had the Vikings lose to the Lions..

The Lions vs. Vikings games are ALWAYS close. Just look at the past 2 or 3 years. I can remember 4 games off the top of my head that went into the 4th quarter with either the Lions winning or within striking distance.

For the most part, no matter how good/bad one team is over the other, these two always end up in a dog fight.

And I picked one of the two games against my Vikings because it's only a matter of time before that ol' toothless Lion gets his bite.

Bwaaahaaa!

This guarantees a Vikings victory.

With Z2C's lack of ability to pick NFL weekly winners, this is a lock!

VR's NFCN picks for the week
Vikings over the Lions
Bengals over the Packers
Steelers over the Bears

Z2C, I whooped your sorry ass on weekly picks last year, and I can do it any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Unfortunately, per my algorithm (team with the higher record; in case of a tie, home team), I was forced to pick Minnesota, but I'll be rooting for myself to be wrong. 😉
