I would NOT put Woodson at safety. Why put a top 5 corner at strong safety? All that does is weaken our depth at corner because Blackmon would then have to play nickel. I would rather have 3 strong corners and have an enforcer (Bigby, Rouse) at strong safety.

To get your best players on the field. Injuries suck but they happen all the time. Another concept we should all get use to is that we are going to see more and more zone and the days of a differentiation of SS and FS are about to be over. I really don't give two shits about positions, put athletes and tacklers on the field. Why play and inferior player when you have options?

Tramon-Blackmon-Woodson-Collins in nickel situation is much worse than: Woodson-Tramon-Rouse-Collins.

What you want to do is make our best players start. But nickel CBs see a LOT of playing time, so it will make our team weaker. Not to mention Woodson probably won't do as well at SS, than he will at CB.

But you don't have to have Blackmon out there in the nickel, if you don't play Rouse in your base formation.

In a 3-4, our best personel would be Harris - Collins - Woodson - Williams, but when switching to a nickel formation, it would switch to Harris - Collins - Rouse - Williams - Woodson. We're making so many substitutions with our linebackers and d-linemen, that I don't think that Capers hasn't thought of this.

I have to disagree on FS/SS differentiation being over. Look at Pit and Bal.

There is no way Landry and Reed are interchangeable. Reed is a pure FS. same with Pit. Polamalu is a SS and Ryan Clark would never be able to play SS like Troy does.

We have no one as good as Landry or Reed. I don't understand the fascination with Bigby by Packer fans. He is so slow and can't cover anyone.

People complain that Ted Thompson has not addressed the offensive line enough, but this position he has been incredibly poor at. Eugene Robinson put our D over the top in the mid 90's, I just wish something other than Smith would have been done this year.

i still think our best bet is putting jolly at safety.

Bigby will officially be out for at least 4 weeks.

One other big named player had some problems with injuries as well. Jennings has a wrist injury, which'll most likely require a brace or has to be taped in some sort of way. He should play on sunday.

Obviously, Jackson is still out as well. Crosby pulled something while lifting weights and needs to rest a bit.

Not totally on Bigby, obviously, but hey, an injury update is never misplaced.

I agree. The way he moved around when asked to drop in zone and that interception last week...

Only thing I have to say about Rouse being the starter now, is you better stay healthy this time. We don't want to have Woody playing safety again.

I frankly don't understand how Bigby made the roster again this year. Does this man ever go 4 consecutive weeks without an injury? For all their talk about availability being paramount, Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson sure seem to make exceptions for certain players. I'd far rather have a player of decent talent with 95% availability than a player of stellar talent but only 40% availability.
