Mike McCarthy has said that Allen Barbre is going to start next week. He didn't say this, but I think Barbre is starting by default. The only alternative, Breno Giacomini, almost got Matt Flynn killed in the preseason, and that was against some second-string DE. Barbre almost got Aaron Rodgers killed several times on Sunday, but at least it was against a premier pass rusher.

The coaches think that Barbre made technical errors rather than getting overpowered, so they're giving him another chance. I hate to say it, but considering the lack of options, I can't disagree. Sometimes young O-linemen get schooled. I remember Darryn Colledge playing left tackle against Miami a few years ago and getting eaten alive by Jason Taylor.

Maybe Barbre will respond to adversity and settle down as the season goes on. But he better do it quickly. I'm hoping the Bengals' DE on that side is not very good.

Good, the kid needs a chance to play and get better. He improved as the game went on so I don't have much of a problem there. Maybe he needs more time per game to adjust to a DE, maybe leaving a FB or TE for the first couple of series might be good to get him comfortable. Who knows, I just know that its hard to look at the right side of our line and think Sitton and Barbre are the brightest bulbs on this team.
A-Rod, my new hero.

Its too early to give up on him. Hopefully he has more success against a different defense.

Brohm could start against the Bengals and I wouldn't worry.

He really improved in the 4th quarter, I thought. I think he can improve a lot from the first three quarters yesterday.

Don't have a better option at this point, but Breno will be active come Sunday. Barbre was not taking a good first step to make that corner the DE needs to take bigger. You always hear when scouts are talking about Tackles is that first step. It is a key to being in position and that was completely lacking.

Have a few practices to get back to the fundamental Tackle pass blocking.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

He needs another chance. I'd be worried to switch to some other option after one game. I'm happy about this.

Well it should be interesting because the Bengals have a decent defense and had a good defense last year. I am glad people say they aren't worried about the Bengals defense but then again i was seeing the same thing about the toothless Bear defense. Take away the fluke 86 yard pass at the end of the game the Bengals game up 218 yards total. And they were ranked #12 last year overall. We better sure up this spot or it could be a very long season because Rodgers won't last.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Ogunleye (sp???) didn't seem to burn him as much in 2nd half, true, but I didn't pay attention to how much help Barbre was getting from FBs or TEs in the 2nd half either.

Barbre was getting burned on the outside, and from replays it looked like Ogunleye had tons of room to give Barbre a Reggie White hook to the inside if he wanted to as well...just look outmatched, and I'm certainly hoping he improves!!

Thanks musccy for bringing this up. I think those of you that said he improved do need to think a bit about that. I'm not saying that he was entirely the same, but he had a lot, A LOT, more help in the 4th quarter from TE's and backs.

Here's praying he learns how to block :pukeright:
