He started in 2007 and did fairly well in the games he started in. Not great, but what you would expect a backup to do.

I don't think anyone should expect the Packers to win the division or much at all if McCown were to have to step in and start for a big chunk of the games, but for a game or two, he's a much better option than Brian Brohm and probably Matt Flynn.

I actually would say McCown has proven way more than Matt Flynn who has thrown eight passes this preseason and has been given a lot of confidence by some people.

It'll be interesting how he plays against Tennessee next week assuming he does. I hope he goes against the No. 1s. See how well he reads and reacts. If he does well, I'd go with him, if not, you may want to try and figure something out.

Brohm has his best practice of his entire Packers career. Maybe those reps are doing him good.

I think we should grab Vet from Tampa Bay Bucs. they got plenty of QB's sitting there and got more proven talent than Brohm does.

Brohm's finally coming on now. I'd give him the ball and see how far he can run with it. If he doesn't stink it up at Tennessee, he'll have saved his roster spot for another season.

As long as Flynn is able to come back from this shoulder sprain and play relatively well against the Titans, I think the Packers need to keep Flynn and Brohm around for another year. I think both have shown improvements over their dismal rookie seasons.

Once training camp rolls around next Summer, you'd like to think their development will have come pretty much full circle.

Flynn, our no.2, seems fine and may even play on Thursday.

I expect Brohm will get a lot of work against Tenn. It's going to be tough, they play their starters in game 4 of the pre season so it will be a serious test. No scrubs on Defense for Brohm to go against.

I hope that Brohm is given the benefit of a starting line for at least a couple of series. It just wouldn't be fair otherwise. The kid has enough self-confidence issues as it is.

The second Rodgers comes out, everyone other 1st teamer on offense is going to soundly disappear like a fart in a wind.

Brohm's best bet is to go 2nd before Flynn takes over. But I doubt the Packers would want to have Flynn be the backup without the benefit of at least playing with the 2nd team, so Brohm is probably relegated to 3rd or 4th quarter work.

That's if Flynn does play.

This game could actually work out in a weird way. By the Titans leaving the starters in it will give McCarthy and Co. a better idea of how those last few guys fighting for a spot perform against top level competition.

This gives a better read as far as where they really are at vs going up against 3rd and 4th team players. This games will be all about individual battles and performances for us anyhow.

I am anxious to see how a player like Wynn, for example, looks against a starting Oline instead of the 2nd or 3rd string OT.

I see Flynn playing very little under the circumstances. No way they want to go into week one with the #2 hurting. They are going to make sure this kid is healthy for the Bears game.
