Well your topic content is really contradictory to your thread title!

Smartest DBs, in what sense? In terms of football reaction speed? No, probably not. In terms of play recognition? Maybe for our two starters. In terms of play making ability? Definitely up there.

The zone scheme ideally should give Woodson and Harris more looks at making plays on the ball. Although this is completely unjustified, I'm sure switching from a man on scheme to a zone scheme is easier than vice versa.

As for Bigby, I wasn't too sold on him in 2007 and I certainly wasn't overly impressed in 2008. As someone else mentioned Bigby seems to go for the knockout blow than consider a play on the ball.

Well I had my doubts about him and that is why I pulled his name out. I am aware of other starters. I did not state we have the smartest I was asking do you think we do. And I did not think Atari was so I pulled his name out. And yes as of Football IQ

Nick Collins had a pretty low wonderlick score. Woodson def. sounds intelligent whenever he interviews.

Bottom line, who cares? They can play football. They can REALLY play football.

Intelligence is overrated on the football field. Why do you think dumbasses like Chad Johnson, TO, Marshawn Lynch, Brett Favre, Jay Cutler, and Joey Porter make pro bowls every year???

Since the playoffs against the Seahawks, Atari has not been at his best or shown that he can be a playmaker. Well Smith could be a starter maybe half way in the season if Atari does not show up on the field. So is that possibility you think that Smith could start over Bigby?

I read an interesting point that someone else made (not sure who)...

As good as our first team Defense has been in games, our second team defense has been just as bad.

Anthony Smith, for all his skills and experience in the 3-4, has been a part of that second unit. Although to be fair, he did not look overly out of position with the starters when he went in for Bigby.

If all things continue as they have, give Smith the spot IMO.

Doesn't seem like the best fit. I want a bigger player like Rouse at SS. I think Smith is better suited for FS. As for Bigby, I have not been impressed with him last year or so far this year.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Smith Knows how to read QB's eyes and he is an experienced player. Rouse I am a fan of his but I don't it's his time yet to start.

Wooooo talk about not the best fit.... just because Rouse is big doesn't mean he's better at SS.... if fact I'd say he's better at FS because he's tackling/wrapping up skills suck... yeah he can put a hard lick on someone but he hasn't figure out how to wrap people up yet... he tries to head hunt on the RB that have 40 pounds on him... that's just not going to work Rouse should be a FS.

As for Smith he's body says FS like ROuse body says SS BUT neither position are right for how they play....

Smith shouldn't be the FS because Smith has one mode... ATTACk!... and that's more like a SS than a FS.

point is Smith should be at SS according to the way he plays.

I think Smith has more upside than Bigby and has made some good plays while it seems like Bigby more or less hasn't made any mistake but not making plays. I'd let them battle it out and let the better one start....

I think the better one might be Smith.
