I have noticed that, while I have seen amazing play by our starters, I always have to remind myself that his is the preseason. A voice in the back of my head says that the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason last year.

I wonder if we are giving useful tape for opponents at the beginning of the regular season and that maybe we should play more vanilla.

That said, I don't think we have played very aggressive thus far and our preseason success is more due to better fundamentals and execution.

You can tell I am a worrier but has anyone else had mixed feelings about being 3-0 in the preseason?

Only 1 more game and then the stats and Ws start to count!

On the one hand it is worrying if the Packers are revealing their hand by playing to win thesae preseason games (the Cardinals, for instance, didn't even game plan for the Packers). On the other, it's important for the players to have confidence - especially in the new defense - and only success is going to bring that.

I'd much rather be 3-0 in the pre-season than 0-3, if the latter was the case people would be talking about another 6-10 season and how much they hate Ted Thompson.

no.

winning in preseason sets a precedent for the rest of the season. while it doesn't really matter how the entire game goes, it's an important sign if your starting unit is dominating, which ours is on both sides of the field. i guarantee you we're not showing our full hand, but i disagree that we're not aggressive. i think this team is on fire and compared to last year that heat, if carried over into the rest of the season, is going to win games for us.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

The Packers went 4-0 when they won the Super Bowl. They also went 4-0 in 1999, when they went 8-8. This is much ado about nothing.

What's important is to look at how the first units are doing against other first units. As many other people have pointed out, the Lions first units didn't look terribly impressive last preseason. Our first units do.

Worrying about going 0-16 is drawing a specious correlation from a sample of 1. It ignores the dozens of other teams that have done well in preseason and also done well in the regular season.

We did not go 4 - 0 in the Pre Season when we won the Super Bowl. We lost our final game against the Colts. I remember this vividly because I was disappointed that the 'COLTS' beat us so badly and it worried me for the season, a tad.
