I'm still baffled by all the man-love for Lumpkin on this forum. Yes, the man has an incredible amount of talent, but as far as I can tell, he has never played a complete season at any level. His durability is simply nonexistent. And both Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson place a premium on availability (or at least they say they do -- why Harrell still hangs around is beyond me).

If the team only takes two running backs into the season, my vote would be Grant, Jackson and Sutton or Grant, Wynn and Sutton. Jackson shows amazing flashes when he's on, but he seems to be chronically injured as well and never seems to complete a season. I want to carry a cadre of backs who can make it through the season. If that means we take less talent over more availability, that's fine with me. I value consistency over flash.

I think Sutton will make the team because that is the only way he`ll stay with the Packers. Someone will pick him up before he gets to the practice squad. I think the odd men out will be Lumpkin and Hall.

@tompelissero : Sutton will play some with the starters on Friday. Big opportunity for him.

This is an absolutely huge opportunity for the kid, getting reps with the starters! I for one would love to see him take advantage as he has with the preseason so far. You can't say too much about the shifty, change of pace guys and what they can mean to a team... ala D. Sproles in SD.

Right now, I say he gets the nod over D. Wynn for sure and Lumpkin (though I do like some Lumpy). BJax is, in my opinion, not up for debate with where he was drafted and the decent job he has done (my opinion of course).

Get some Sutton... I'll be rooting for ya.

The problem I see for Sutton making the team, is what his role would be. With his style of play, I think he is competing with Jackson, not Lumpkin or Wynn. Both of them are bigger and would be better suited for short yardage plays where Sutton is smaller even than Grant and Jackson, so I see him being used more like Jackson, catching out of the back field.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Last year it was Lumpkin, now it's Sutton. I'll focus my hopes on Grant and Wynn instead of the flavor of the preseason this year.

Where I think Sutton has the big edge on everyone else is he doesn't have the injury history. I don't trust Jackson, Wynn, or Lumpkin to make it through a full season of NFL play.
