I think Raji will stat over Pickett in the 2-4-5 alignment. They'll want that potential pass rush that Raji can give that Pickett can't.

That's just a guess.

Plus Raji has young legs, which Pickett does not. Makes sense to me.

But a 2-4-5 is different than a 0-5-6 or something crazy like that which the Patriots ran. I can imagine that the 2 DTs in this scheme can still have the same objective as in the 3-4 linemen. If that's the case, it'd make sense that they have two big guys on the line.

It'll also helps against the run. Obviously, you don't need too much protection, as you'll be in a passing down, but you never know when AP gets the hand-off and slips through. At least you can take the run down the middle a bit better with two big guys than having at least 4 pure pass rusher on the line.

Maybe it's just rotational. 3rd and 22. Thompson - Raji - Montgomery - Kampman. 3rd and 5. Matthews - Raji - Pickett - Kampman.

I guess you could run:

Kamp, Raji, Picket/Jolly, Jenkins in a 4-2-5, but i dont see this team in a rush to get that many DLinemen on the field at the same time, not in a passing situation atleast.

If I recall correctly I remember an Aaron Rodgers interview that was widely discussed on this forum in which Rodgers said that we'd have the four down lineman for nickel situations and also mentioned that this was where Kampman got a lot of his sacks in previous years (as opposed to the base 4-3). I could be wrong but I got the impression that a 4-2 nickel package was a major package we have. I've also heard of the coaches talking about using four down lineman. Besides, Kampman, Raji, Picket, and Jenkins is a very solid line.

I've seen a lot of this in the off-season as well, but people like Greg A. Bedard have been twittering about a 2-4-5 nickel. It really wouldn't make a whole lot of difference to Kampman, I asume. The 2-4 usually has the OLBs standing on the DEs spot. The only 'bad' thing that can happen to Kampman is that he, once again, will have to drop back into a shallow zone. It's easy to change from one to another. Just let Kampman put his hand down. We just won't have Jenkins on the field in that case (Or he has to play pass rushing DT).

I can imagine that the nickel packages are played with 4 linemen. Haven't heared a whole lot about that. 4-1 and 3-2 are both viable options.

the only thing im scared about in the 3-4 or 2-4-5 or whatever, is aaron kampman has been having trouble dropping into pass coverage, thats gonna hurt us if he doesnt pick up quick
