So as we've seen these last two preseason games Sutton is getting a good amount of play time for an undrafted rookie. The Packers seem to really like him, and most fans do too. He's small but that works a lot to his advantage, as Sutton says about following behind Quinn Johnson, "Every single time I'm in there behind 'Q' I tell him, 'Get me there because they can't really see me.' ".

However his biggest issue is picking up the blitz, something he'd have to get good at. His main competition, Deshawn Wynn, is an excellent blocker, but of course has a bad history of injuries.

What do you guys think of Sutton? Do we take him as the third back? Do you see him progressing even further in the team or do you see him being cut?

I couldnt watch the 4th quarter of the buffalo game so missed his action there - but against clevland he rocked (to be honest our run blocking has gotten much better this season so this is part of it) - IMO most of grants good runs are because of our line and FB.

back to sutton ... I think he makes our roster - how many rb do we plan on having on the team? grant jackson and 1 other? ... So far I like sutton better then lumpkin ... I do like wynn but injuries hmmm.

I'm going to watch the 4th quarter of the game tonite and ill get back to you.

- I was going to say; after seeing the browns game - sutton is the one rookie offense guy I am looking forward to see how he does.

oh and I'm thankful finley can catch a ball this season (he got velcrow on his gloves now?) last season they seemed to fly by him or bounce off his hands ...

I think they'll keep 6:

Grant
Jackson
Wynn
Sutton
Johnson
Kuhn (much as I like Hall...)

I'm pretty positive on him making the 51 man roster. If nothing else, it's for his change of pace. Maybe we'll see him just 4 times a game, but he's one of those guys that has the potential to break away on every play.

Like you said, blitz pick-up might be a problem, but his hands are very good. Doubt that he can replace BJ as our 3rd down back, though.

Biggest problem that I can think off is that he's lacking amazing speed. He is very quick, agile, has great balance and can pull of some moves, but he doesn't have that break away speed.

If they keep 6 he makes the team. Barring injury, Grant and Jackson will account for 90% of the running plays, therefore they will only keep 5 (3 RB and 2 FB).

Ted is a gambler and he will try and tuck Sutton away on the PS. The move could come back and bite him but as Sutton was undrafted and there will be a lot of higher profile RBs out there he (Ted) will take the chance.

Keep in mind that while Sutton has 140 yards and a 5.2 avg, he has been playing against 2nd and 3rd string players and Cleveland's 1st string is not all that good to being with.

I think they'll keep em too. We need all the backs we can get.

Can't see him making the cut, Wynn offers something Sutton does not - pass protection. If Wynn is fit from now until the end of training camp (which isn't a certainty with his record), I think he makes the roster. I can't see the Packers carrying 4 running backs. In addition, I think Kuhn is the odd man out in the fullback competition.l

My problem with keeping Sutton over Wynn is that we do not have a banger back that can get the 3rd and short and 4th and 1's.

You saw it again Saturday, Sitton whiffs on his block and Grant gets stuck for a loss. I don't know why McCarthey is so fricken stubborn. Put 4 wides on the field and pick up the first down. Let Grant run out of that formation, at least you won't have 9 in the box.

I'll take Sutton over Lumpkin, but not Wynn. The way to retain Sutton is keep 4 backs and go with less at another position. No way in hell he clears waivers.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
