is kapinos gonna get the starting job ? they said during the telecast last nite, that they brought in 4 punters during the week is this because they dont think kapinos is the answer or just trying to get the most out of him ? he looked ok to me but im not sold on him yet !!

Brooks seems to be out with a hip flexor ATM (anyone know what that actually is?). Kapino's seems to be the more consistent of the two but doesn't quite have the stats Brooks has (though Brooks has a tendency to shank). As of right now Kapinos is our man.

I really hope the Packers stick with Brooks, he has the potential to be a solid punter, Kapinos is what he is at the moment. The decision to keep Brooks or Kapinos strikes me as similar to the one a few years back between Rayner and Crosby: Rayner was the incumbent and Crosby was raw, but ultimately it came down to potential.

I hope they stick with the guy (Kapinos) that can keep putting the ball inside the 20 and doesn't ever shank it. A shanked punt is just about as bad as a turnover.

The waiver wire will also open up keep an eye open for Trappanos who is currently with the titans it is not likely he will make the team
I am therefor I think.

Kapinos is slightly above average on his best day.

I fully expect Ted to go out and trade for a punter from either Denver or Tennessee. We need a MAJOR upgrade at the position - Brooks is too inconsistent and Kapinos is never going to be mistaken for a good punter.

To elaborate on what I said earlier, reading it back I don't think I made my point very clearly. I think the Packers should stick with Brooks because he has the potential to be one of the best punters in the league (just as the Packers stuck with Crosby because he had the potential to be one of the best kickers). When Brooks was in college he was touted as the best punter since Shane Lechler. Kapinos is unlikely to improve any further, he's two years out of college and he doesn't possess the naturally strong leg that Brooks appears to have.

In training camp even though Brooks has shanked the odd one, and apparently is suffering from a hip-flexor, he still has better numbers than Kapinos. In addition, Brooks is also a good holder. I can't find the statistics on this, but I'm pretty sure Brooks has out-performed Kapinos in the pooch-drills in camp (pinning the opponent inside the 20.)

The Packers gave up too early on Jon Ryan even though he had all the tools to be a top punter. Instead they went for - what they thought - was the steadier option, however Derrick Frost was just awful. I hope they don't give up on Brooks.

A couple of rumors floating around on whom the Packers might be targeting... it is looking quite possible the Packers for the second straight year will be entering the season with a punter that didn't go to camp with them..

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2009/08/23/no-lions-qb-decision-ready-yet

With neither Jeremy Kapinos nor Durant Brooks doing anything to distinguish themselves in the battle for the Packers' punting job, don't be surprised if the team works the waiver wire diligently in pursuit of possible punters that might foot the bill. Two teams we hear the Packers could be watching closely are Denver, where incumbent P Brett Kern is engaged in a dogfight with rookie free agent Britton Colquitt, and Jacksonville, where veterans Adam Podlesh and Steve Weatherford have been battling it out.

With our offense, we don't need no stinken punters, hell 93Z could handle the job.
