LOL this has to be a bluff, and since its that obvious its going to fail. I would want him to do it though just because it would be hilarious

It's a bluff to get what he wants. If Crabtree does this he'll lose money because he won't be near as high as a pick. No way doe a team take Crabtree who is out of football for a year and clearly has some baggage over Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant and Illinois' Arrelious Benn.

If I'm the 49ers, I call his bluff.

Obviously. His agent is the master schemer behind this. It would just be something if he is so confident about himself (With the way that guys like Deion Sanders have talked him up) that he overrides his agent and goes on with this crap. Like I said earlier, and Finland stated as well, the teams should just let him drop the the 49ers in the 7nd round in that case.

EDIT: After reading Dhazer's post, I'll remove a part of this post. Premature speculation. Sounds nasty.

If I'm the Packers and he's there in round two or three, take a chance on him in the 2010 draft.

Why not?

He has some leverage this year because he was a high pick, but next year, he'll have zero leverage. At best he goes late first and more than likely he'll end up in round two or three because of his diva like qualities.

The bottom line is that there isn't any way this guy doesn't sign with San Francisco. Something will eventually get done.

I hope he DOES hold out, enters next years draft, and NO ONE drafts him!!!
Now THAT would be "karma!!!"

Sorry Dave H, but that was funny.

If Crybabytree sticks to this plan, we'll be able to use that 7th rounder we got back from the Jets for him, although I think that is still a tad steep.

NOOOOOOOOOOO because next year i might actually throw something at the TV that would break it lol, this year i just threw my cheesehead and it bounced back. If he enters the draft next year and Ted Thompson passes over him again it would be the death of my TV.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

First thought that comes to mind in this thread.. Maurice Clarett.. minus the drug dealing to finance his year off because he sat out a year. Different reasons.. but the same falling result.. plus Clarett got to workout for clubs.. Crabtree won't be able to..

Does Parker and Crabtree really think that is going to improve their cash windfall?

There is a reason Eugene is back peddling today.. that would be disastrous for the well being of Crabtrees bottom line.. and Eugene's.

Having a client hold out for re-entry I think hurts his marketability as an agent worse than taking a lower salary for his player.

Unless his player scores a blockbuster deal next year. Still, as a player, I'd definitely be inclined to lean toward the "bird in hand" mentality.

Actually, I kind of agree with hazer, only I wouldn't be mad at Ted Thompson if we passed over him.

It would be a great value pick, though. That is, unless someone like Cody (NT, AL) is available when we select.

We could finally get rid of an average #5 receiver and have a strong 1-5 receiving lineup (1-Jennings 2-Driver 3-Crabtree 4-Jones 5-Nelson). Now THAT would be a beastly receiving core. (BTW, Crabtree could possibly be #4 in that scenario, with Jones being the #3 man.) Yes, I think Jones will be a real star in this league. Benn or Bryant would be as good or better however....haha.

Anyway, I've gotten ahead of myself. I hope he gets signed this year. It would suck for the 49ers if they totally miss out on their 1st round pick. I feel sorry fore Mike Singletary.

If you're going to have 5 receivers of starting caliber, you're going to have to free up some space financially somewhere else. I think that a player like Ruvell is exactly what you want in your Nr. 5 WR. Nothing great, but he can get by the nr. 4/5 corner and most safeties. Maybe a more developmental player would be nice, but that's all.

I can't think of the financial nightmare that would become. Jones ought to want a decent contract if he's going take the field in the same sort of way that he has been showing in TC so far. Crabtree will want to have some big contract. Jennings is already getting paid pretty big. Driver has a decently big contract and I asume that Jordy's contract is somewhere around 6 million over 3 years (guesstimate) as well, nearly being a 1st round pick and all.

I also hope he'll sign this year. I think that the fans over in San Fran are already having flashbacks to Nr. 81, though.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
