So when did we sign Rodgers for 10 years?

Can you answer one simple question for me?

Why is it exactly that you dislike Aaron Rodgers? Is it because Ted Thompson brought him here or what?

He has a good season and now it seems like you want him out of town.

I'll answer your questions i have no problem with that.

Why do i dislike Rodgers? From day 1 watching him in the Draft room he came off to me as a egomaniac, and then he comes out with the shut the hell up comment enforced that more for me. Also I have seen alot of players have one good year and then the next i see them flop after they get money, thus the reason i won't glorify Rodgers like alot do on here.

Did i ever say I want Rodgers out of town, i always say the same thing and that is i want to see him prove he can do it for a few years before i start praising him.

I asked one simple question and i get this too damn funny.

So answer one simple question for me, when did we sign Rodgers to a 10 year contract? Murphy says we are set at qb for the next decade and a decade is 10 years, so once again how does he know we have Rodgers for 10 years?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I think that the answer to your question is very, very obvious. You don't just release a franchise QB. If he'll play good, of course we're going to resign him. And I know that you're going to bring Favre into this discussion, maybe Cutler for being traded, but you know better than that yourself.

And if you dislike Rodgers because he hasn't proven himself yet after just one year combined with being an egomaniac, why do you always try to find the negative things? And why do you ignore all the good points when some people are just trying to show that it's not all that negative?

How does us releasing him come into this convo? remember there is a thing called free agency. I wasn't bringing in any other names but for some reason people think i really give a rats ass about Lord Favre. Why do i bring up the negatives you ask and thats because i won't buy into 1 great year makes a great player not to hard to figure out. I understand you haven't been a Packer fan for a longtime Rock but others should be able to understand when you saw what happened in recent years with the likes of Levens and Freeman and hell even Walker. I loved Walker before he had the great year and then demanded more money than i could careless about him. I have learned that all the players say the same thing and that is, I love this team and i don't want to go anywhere else, but when the money is flashed in there faces they are gone and loving the next team.

As for the 1 year wonder, it's a possibility, but it's far more likely that Rodgers will go on as a great QB and if he digresses, he'll still be a very viable option. Cassell would be a guy that I would be afraid of becoming a bust, Rodgers, not so much.

And what I meant by having Rodgers for 10 years. How many QBs franchise QBs have you seen that switch teams throughout his career? Cutler is an abnormality, but franchise QBs stay with their teams for their entire career, or at least the biggest portion, untill they get traded/released when they're on the decline. I don't think that you could find 5 franchise QBs who just left their teams to go and play in another place throughout the history of the entire NFL. And I don't mean Namath, Montana or Favre-like trades.

hazer, you point out all of the negatives, but I think you fail to see all of the positives that he brings to the team. Or do you just ignore them because you don't like the guy?

And by the way, if I'm not mistaken, Rodgers was in his last year of his rookie contract in '08. We HAD to resign him eventually, that is, unless you want Brohm or Flynn to be our starting QB.

And I agree with the way Rock answered your question. I couldn't have said it better myself.

2009 was the final year of his rookie contract. I understand where you guys are coming from, and i am trying to explain where i come from. I'm worried about one year wonders and the simple fact very few players will pass up more money unless your going to a team that has a very very good chance of being a contender.

Guys just remember i'm not hating the guy hell i wore my Rodgers jersey to the Brewers Pirates game. I'm hoping he turns out to be like alot of here are claiming he will but i'm just waiting to pass judgement is all.

Waiting to pass judgement and taking shots any chance you get don't exactly jive. Makes it seem as though judgement has already been passed is all.

I'm completely in agreement with the one year wonder / get your money and suck theory. I'm hoping the years under Favre will keep the one year wonder away.

I spent more time cussing out the defense, Grant, and some of the play calls last year to have any serious issues with Rodgers.

You want to finish your career here?
Favre: "Definitely. If in two years, say, they want to trade me, I'd probably walk away. Retire."

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
