It sounds like Mike McCarthy and company are more interested in him potentially playing DE then NT ... I hope this works; I thought the main reason to grab raji at the 9 spot was to be a starter or back for the NT position.

Maybe he will play both NT and DE at times and so will pickett?

We have a few big guys that can play the 3 main D guys ...
I'm hoping jolly doesnt have legal troubles I liked his play (often got his hands up to knock balls down etc)

Last season I was mainly interested in how our offense was going to work (mainly the passing game); this season I think I will be watching the D more then the O to watch all these big changes...

It's all in the video in that post. Raji will apperantly be a starter anyway. So will Pickett. With Jenkins on the other side, it'll make for a pretty good O-line right away.

Never again shall I doubt the master plan.

BJ Raji interview pre-draft...

B.J., who impressed you the most at the combine, at any position?

B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College
That's a good question. Wow. I would say Everette Brown, because of his explosiveness. I watched some tape on him, and he looked good in person, too. I would say Clay Matthews. He did everything well. Aaron Curry really impressed me too.

Raji and Clay worked out together at the same facility pre-draft. Theres a video on nfl.com path to the draft of Raji doing a bench press and Clay in the background spotting him and when Raji finishes Clay shouts "BJ RAJI BOSTON COLLLLLEGE!!" Its pretty neat 🙂

Raji will probably be the last to be signed. I have complete faith that it happens no more than a few days into camp.

I can't wait to see this guy play. Looks like a great pick to me, specially for our new scheme it fits perfectly.

Even if he's not making the tackle or getting to the QB before release in that first video, he's still getting a lot of penetration and being a disruptive force in the middle. Hopefully he and Pickett can form for us what the Vikings enjoy with the Williams Wall in Minnesota.

And he doesn't have to get to the QB. That's so great about it. O-linemen will be a bit tougher in the NFL, but if he can just hold his ground in the running game and get some penetration and drag 2 O-linemen with him on passing plays, he'll be doing what he has to do. That he has some sick speed for a 330 pound man is a great addition.

If he's playing DE, I can't wait to see him get that tackle and guard out of the way and see Kampman running by him to make the sack.
