I remember Raji playing mostly NT in 2010. I'm pretty sure he was often listed as a DE, but most the the snaps came at NT with Pickett at DE. Then there was all the conversation about moving Raji back outside and Pickett back to NT because Pickett got no push from the outside. Zero is right. Where is your guys memories?? heh heh [boxing] [boxing] [boxing]

Pickett, Raji, Jenkins - 2010
Neal, Pickett, Raji - 2011 at least that's what Dom Capers was saying. I know we had a discussion about this too.

I think Raji stays in the middle unless Worthy shows he get a better push. But I don't see that happenening. Raji was playing end because we didn't have anybody else that could do as well. Hopefully Worthy remedies that.

I don't care where he lines up. I just want enough in the rotation so that he only needs to take about 50-60% of the total snaps. I want the DL to be a rotation of six dominators!

Raji is experienced enough in this defense to do whatever Capers wants him to do. He just needs to be fresh.

Raji played NT in 2010 and DE in 2011. I'm positive of it because I remember them saying they were moving Raji to Jenkins spot on the line.

They said they would use Raji in the 3 (Jenkins spot) when there was a 3.
When there was no 3 they said Raji would be at NT (not Jenkins spot).

That's what they said. But NT is asked to protect against the possible run first, by clogging a gap first, then if it's a pass play then penetrate... as the defense started to struggle, Raji stop clogging and went straight to penetrating... so they moved Pickett to NT and started to call a lot more plays with the 3 placement for Raji, which let him penetrate right away.

I would say Raji is not a DE nor a true NT. I think he's a DT or a pass rushing NT. Wade Phillips version of the 3-4 uses a pass rushing NT very well. Also Raji could become a very good true NT if he was more patient. But with Pickett, I rather use him as the NT and Raji in the 3 placement. Problem is the OLB would have to be able to hold their own in the run game, and with Zombo being injured last year, they didn't have another OLB that could hold their own in the run game. (not counting Matthews of course).

I have a question, when we play that horrible 2 man front, which one is the nose tackle?

It's two DTs. And the OLBers move up close to the line of scrimmage like stand up DEs.

Other teams have claimed they play it's like a 4-2, with the OLBers being the DEs.

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
