Interesting little take on the possible uncapped year coming.

Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports, reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, Philadelphia Eagles DL Mike Patterson and San Diego Chargers DL Luis A. Castillo are the only three 2005 first-round draft picks who have signed contract extensions with their initial franchises so far. NFL teams appear to have been slow in signing players from the 2005 draft class due to the potential of an uncapped season in 2010. Under the CBA rules of an uncapped year, players can't become unrestricted free agents until after their sixth season. Subsequently, players from the 2005 class will only have five years of service accrued and would not be unrestricted free agents next offseason. Unless they work out renegotiated deals between now and then, they would become restricted free agents following the 2009 campaign, meaning their current clubs have the ability to match an offer sheet from a competing team to retain their services.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
